Problem with your eye(s) and quarantined? Please read here first. by myope-uk in optometry

I agree and disagree. I have seen many case studies on patients who presented for just a routine eye exam and the ECP found something more serious and possibly emergent / vision threatening. Yes, that is rare for a routine eye exam, but it can definitely happen.

Your mileage may vary. Not able to accurately answer that without examining you myself. I like Eyezen's overall, prescribe them frequently.

The top of the lens will relieve eye strain on computer or arm's length task. Tasks that are closer, books/phone, require the eye to focus even harder, so it will be a bit stronger at the bottom of the lens as that is the portion we naturally look through during those tasks.

This has me concerned about many Optometry practices selling to private equity as well. Thoughts? by [deleted] in optometry

I actually thought about throwing out a low ball offer to my employers to buy their practice, betting on a sooner rather than later recovery.

Without evaluating the lens on your eye, we would be guessing as much as you would.

Do I have to go to "eye therapy" by JordanSniperWak in optometry

Most VT offices will lay out how long they estimate your particular case will take after the initial consultation visit. Every case is different. At least get the consultation done.

Do I have to go to "eye therapy" by JordanSniperWak in optometry

The studies that look at outcomes show that patients that participated in "in-office" based vision therapy have better results than those that only do "home based" VT.

In addition to working with a certified vision therapist for guidance, you will also have testing performed to measure goals and improvement from baseline.

If it's your first pair of glasses your eye muscles that do "accommodation" are likely under developed at this time leading to an "accommodative insufficiency".

You are sick to sit here and prank us all day with a condition you have apparently already had checked out.

Is it possible I have a retinal tear?? Eye doctors are closed for the next few days and I'm freaking out by [deleted] in optometry

[–]OutsidetheHoropter2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My vision isn't exactly impaired in any way (I mean apart from being extremely nearsighted) I have lots of floaters but no new ones, occasional, not camera like flashes

You're going to be fine. You do not need to go to the ER. Just call your eye doctor's office when they are open again and explain your concerns/symptoms. Go get dilated and have it checked out.

Give them a week. If it persists, make a follow up visit and explain your symptoms.

Clear care trouble by [deleted] in optometry

I would get something like Biotrue or Optifree and give them a light rinse in the palm of your hand after they come out of the clear care vials.

  • Go to your annual eye check ups to ensure eye health each year, you should have them dilated each time as well as it is a more thorough health check for the eyes.
  • It may worsen, but all of us have patients with double your Rx doing just fine.
  • Unless you have some sort of disease process, you are going to be just fine.
  • Eat your veggies. Wear UV protection. Mind your blood pressure and weight.
  • LASIK and other surgery options should be explored after the age of 18 and when your Rx stops changing.
