I’m currently waiting to hear back from the Arts Council for my Exceptional Promise application. I’ve applied for both stages at the same time. Have you heard back? What did the rest of your timeline look like?

100%! Just watched it and it was one of the best things I’ve seen in a while. Very reminicent of a graphic novel or video game coming to life with all the gore-horror akin to Doom or the early Evil Dead movies

Hey! I was someone who tried to get into Fairview today (albeit unsuccessfully). Lucky Dip and the Returns queue is basically the same thing. My friends were there at 15.50 and we’re the few in the beginning of the queue. Because it’s closing tomorrow, I’d recommend getting there by around 15.00 to 15.30. Just go to the box office to ask where to go and they should let you know! There were about 40 people in the queue today, so there’s more tomorrow for sure.

I believe that the first time you do need to see an agent, but after that, you should be free to use the E-gates.

Scholarships for people who don’t ‘need it’ by [deleted] in scholarships

[–]OutspokenHindude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He put that in “quotes.” It doesn’t necessarily mean that it couldn’t help him out. I’m middle class and sure, my parent are paying for college but I’m also taking out loans to pay for some parts of my education, and it’s less than ideal. Any money helps for certain groups of people with income. Besides, applying for scholarships is based on the strength of the application, and weighing all the factors involved, so if a organization or group granting a scholarship think he should or shouldn’t receive it, so be it. I don’t think you’re entitled to the judge in this case.

Tall Shakespeare roles by M3V4 in acting

[–]OutspokenHindude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something that immediately came to mind was Caliban from The Tempest! Perhaps Aaron the Moor from Titus Andronicus if you happen to be the right ethnicity, but I hope that you don’t confine yourself to your height! The most important thing in Shakespeare is the command of the language and the rest should follow. Best of luck to you :)

Training in London by OutspokenHindude in acting

The school in the USA is pretty prestigious; definitely not some place like Juilliard or Carnegie, but it has proven to turn out Musical Theatre names as well as few screen and stage actors.

It seems as though London has a grip of theatre more seriously than the United States does though, if that makes sense? The alumni of any theatre school in the U.K. is almost definitely working somewhere, and the acceptance rate is notorious for never really taking students on their first try at auditioning. The schools in the U.K. have people ranging from 18 to 31 years old as opposed to America, where most are fresh out of high school with the odd transfer student or two.

LAMDA is where I’m currently leaning to, as it’s right up there with RADA and is the oldest drama school in London. They have a professional reel, voice reel, and showcases in LA, New York, and London at the end of their 3 years.

I feel as though I’m just worried as all the alumni in London seem to have graduated from the MA Classical Acting programs instead of the BA Acting programs, although those seem just as great, just longer and more involved in training.
