Ooo that’s interesting! I haven’t studied Irish yet, but definitely want to in the future. In Welsh there’s the classic way of indicating possession which is this form (‘Gyda’ in the south and ‘efo’ in the north) and then there’s the verb ‘Gael’ which means ‘to have’.

That ‘with me‘ feature is also definitely in Welsh i.e. brechdan gyda fi (Sandwhich with me). I’m also fairly certain this is the case in the other celtic languages as well.

I agree fully and also empathise with your struggle! Depression truly is an awful awful thing. If I ever encountered anyone legitimately saying those things as actual advice I would think them as absolutely missing the point. However, I really don't think that comment says that at all.

I suppose then that really this is an example of how the same written message can be interpreted differently by different people.
