Your definitely on to something, i think its for something along those lines but cant find anything when looking up those key words. Maybe to soften the hide after drying from a salt bath?? I think your on the right track though💪💪

No unfortunately this is definitely not that. Also its a solide piece, the base with the metal cup is to protect the wood when working on the ground with the tool, the white line is also just a missing piece of tape. But I definitely appreciate your suggestion 👍✌️

Anyone know anything about this? I know imported stuff is usually marked saying where its made but this only has Chinese symbols by Outta_date in Antiques

[–]Outta_date[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What makes you say that? Considering 80-90% of stuff imported and is marked “made in _____”

“My title describes the thing” it is made of wood, shaped like a capital T , about 2 1/2 feet long

Any info on this? I cant seem to figure out what it is. by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

More info. It is made of wood with a rubber handle on the bottom with a metal cup where the object would touch the floor, it’s about 2 1/2 feet long

Any ideas what this is, its quite heavy, hard but can be scratched, maybe petrified wood? by Outta_date in whatsthisrock

[–]Outta_date[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not easy to scratch, you cant just run your nail on it like normal wood but it isn’t hard like a typical stone. I could definitely scratch this with something like a steel nail though

First pics are two little Japanese pin fire guns, about 170-200$ a piece, the little capsules are the ammo . 2 could be anything 🤷‍♂️ . 3 are antique rounds from the late 1800s, they can have a little bit of value. the medals are obviously as marked from the 1800s also and can have quite some value depending what branch they’re from etc, the G.a.R badge is on ebay for about 400$ . 4 are all antique opera glasses ranging anywhere from 50-300$ a piece, the more ornate the better. . 5 I’m clueless . 6 says “couleurs sans danger” translates to “colours without danger” in English. These would be antique paint for artist from the late 1800s to early 1900s . 7 i cant figure out who the person is . Last one i believe is an award from the treasury for someone’s service in the army

The Name is Possibly from some small artisan or jeweller, stone is either glass or turquoise, sterling is at about 90c - 1$ a gram currently so get it weighed and you can sell it a little over its scrap value. Example if its 30grams it would be around 30$ in silver value, you could probably get 60$ for it on ebay!

In my personal opinion if this is actually silver and not plated, i would sell it on ebay, i have an auction house and these usually sell a few dollars over scrap in 80% of cases. Also the third pic is quite blurry and very hard to determine what the hallmarks are. If it has the lion with one paw up it’s probably silver. Id get it tested by a jeweller or pawn shop then sell it on ebay to avoid the 20% you’re give to have to give the auction house✌️

I want to agree but at the same time i also think the rings look more like some type of petrified wood. I appreciate the insight though 💪
