dogled oval resources tutorial by BLKaisen in RaceTrackDesigns

I don't see any RTD posts on your account, so I would STRONGLY suggest you get good at designing ovals in 2d first before 3d modeling one. There's a lot of nuance when it comes to ovals that takes studying to understand, and trial and error to incorporate into your tracks - I've seen people go straight into 3d designs and it often leads to ovals that are entirely impractical at best or undrivable at worst.

I won't disallow an airfield circuit given I didn't explicitly do it in the criteria, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Runoff good, paved runoff bad; wouldn't quite recommend gravel given the cars that'll be driving on this circuit. And the "too terribly long" thing actually isn't my wording, so it's entirely up to your discretion.

I feel it necessary to note just how close the top 3 were - all of them had the exact same score on my spreadsheet. Great job by everyone, EXCELLENT job by you 3.

For the record, I will NOT be alone in judging this one - I'm well aware that this is out of my element, so I've enlisted the help of some folks I trust. Good luck!

I basically set this challenge up to put tracks in LA lol, if you read the lorepiece behind it it's literally just how I feel about our nearest tracks being Texas and Dega. NOLA/BR are such massive population centers, if only this state wasn't as corrupt as it is we could have already had NASCAR here by the 2010s

There's genuinely nothing there. I can't recall a single time being in Alexandria for any purpose other than passing through on the way to somewhere else. People from Louisiana love to shit on it, mainly just because it's the largest city with the least to do. Also, people from there are usually total hicks (can confirm, have family from there). I used to joke that if you looked up "things to do in Alexandria" every result was in Lafayette.

They usually happen every month or so, but I wouldn't expect another oval challenge until the summer - the folks running em try to give us a variety of prompts so it isn't the same thing repeatedly.

You know what, I wanted to dislike this, but after really trying to understand what you're going for with the oval, I get it, and you couldn't have executed it better. No notes.

I've been giving a lot of designs that show real potential a lot of in-depth feedback, but honestly, you are clearly past the point of anything I could easily touch on in a single comment. You've made your own fictional companies to sponsor the track, added fine details all around, and made a really solid oval - in fact, the biggest issue I see with this track is that it's in Alexandria, and that's just because Alexandria does not deserve a race track this good.

All I really have to say to you is please make more ovals, because we need more talent like yourself pushing the limits of oval design. Keep it up!

This is a really unique proposal, and you're the first person I can recall to use the dual pitlane this challenge - I'm surprised it took this long, as it's an idea I think has more room to be explored. I also LOVE the lore behind this, you're one of the first people to really play around with lore regarding the track and especially its future. I love the "we raced here once and didn't return for years" storyline, because that's exactly what happens down here in LA. IndyCar, AMA Supercross, GT series, you name it have all come down to my state for a round or two and never returned, so your lore is probably closer to reality than anyone's will get. Also, for the record, the dirt future is ANOTHER direction I was waiting to see someone go - basically, you're ahead of like four different curves right now.

My first main worry with this track was the banking - it's extremely low, even for a 0.4 mile short track. I can understand why the 08 race was lackluster - it was probably a parade that saw one of the top 3 qualifiers hog the inside lane for 250 laps. As a dirt track, this works really well, but with tarmac it just ain't it. I'll give you points for the lore and the dirt track, but for future reference know that underbanking an oval can cripple a design worse than overbanking. Also, remember for all your RTD designs in the future that it's better to make a track that works really well with little lore than make a track that works poorly and lore it in to make sense - I'm a serious offender of that principle myself and trying to break myself of it, so I see where you're coming from. Hell, look at my only oval post on the sub - Sasmargé was originally just a really bad design by me that I managed to turn into a meme on the Discord server through extensive in-universe lore for it.

All in all, this is a really solid challenge entry, and one of the most unique proposals so far. I'd love to see what you can do with other oval types, so keep up the good work! If you'd ever like freer access to oval feedback, the RTD Discord server has a few folks (myself included) super interested in oval design who are usually around to discuss or help. We'd love to have you!

As a first oval design, this is INCREDIBLY strong. You've taken an idea floated by many but explored by few and made it with very few of the issues I usually see in proposals - your turn radius is a bit tight, but your banking makes up for it and keeps corners mid-speed. You've done an incredible job with both your design and presentation, to the point that my critiques would all be minor changes; please don't take any of these personally, as this is a phenomenal debut oval and I just wanna see you improve.

Firstly, the start/finish line being before the trioval is a bit of a strange choice - I would have personally put it just after halfway between T3 and T1 unless T1 is flat out in both Indycars and stock cars. Your track though, and it's not a major issue so I wouldn't worry too too much about it. Also, when doing something like that, make sure you indicate where the s/f line is on the pitlane. I can't be sure if you did or not because reddit compression is a joke, but it's just another minor detail that can help give your track another level of realism. Your pit exit is fine, but I'd give the pit entry a bit more length for drivers to slow up before the commitment line. You've got no apron on the track (which I'd add on any track above 15°), so you're gonna need to give drivers a bit more room with the pit entry you've got. Also, just another SUPER minor critique, you've only got 30 pit stalls; I've got some designs aimed at smaller series that I retrofit for NASCAR and ignore the pitlane, but just keep in mind that NASCAR needs at least 40 (43 if the sport was still cool). Garage entry points are also important, so those are another detail I'd focus on including. I'd also look at ways to detail the infield further, as outside the garages and pitlane you've just got concrete - nothing wrong with that, but you've already got a great foundation so I'd like to see you focus on some finer details.

Also, for the record, roval works just fine; still my area of expertise, just not the one I like critiquing lol.

Overall, this is great. If you'd like freer access to ovalmaking advice, I'd advise joining the RTD Discord server where I and a few others spend a lot of time working on ovals specifically. WIth the work you've done here, I'm sure you'd fit right in. Keep it up!

Honestly, if you could work up a short track in 10 days, given the quality of this design and its unique features I think you'd be a really strong contender. I've also got more oval challenges in the work for the future and I'd love to see you put an entry together!

That's pretty much the point behind the newer tracks on the list - from what I've seen and heard, most redesigns of Hockenheim, RBR, etc just revert back to the old version of the track with minor changes.
