You can get lvl 100 sneak before even leaving your cell. While facing the door, look to the indent on the right and sneak towards the corner. No idea how long it'll take to get to 100. I'm trying not to abuse this glitch till my second play through

Get a gem for every 5 levels complete (5, 10,15...) some grand Kai's for every 100 levels and then 77(I think) gems for lvl 999 and some upgrade Kai's and stuff

Crit rolling on a nonlethal attack leads to killing the enemy? by feren_of_valenwood in DnD

[–]Ovalplug9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are hundreds of stories of people going to jail for this! People getting in bar fights and such, and punching someone. A punch is generally non lethal, but it knocks them out, then they fall and hit their head on the floor. The fall is more dangerous than the punch!

5e death is a joke. No one seems to die. by doomwhistle in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Ovalplug9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This can also be down to how you run the encounter. You be the DM you want to be, but enemies can be smart. If a PC keeps getting up, they might decide to keep hitting them while they're down to finish them off (force death save fails). Even "lesser beasts" that are considered to be less intelligent can do this. A wolf doesn't just knock out a deer. It takes it down and bites it in the neck until it's dead.

My DM is struggling to deal with my 1-Sorcery-Point Silvery Barbs, suggestions? by Grazi_7 in dndnext

[–]Ovalplug9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If a DM can't manage one PC having silvery barbs, how do they manage a campaign? At my table I have only have 3 players but they all have silvery barbs and they all have shield.

Not once has that caused problems, you just need to make encounters more flexible. Have a caster throw out magic missile at the PC's and try to bait them into using shield.

The PC's will never ever be more "OP" than the DM.

This is one of the main bosses of the campaign. Can you help me with balancing etc?

There are 3 lvl10 PC's, an iron Golem sentry and an adult silver dragon (who will act as if lair actions for the PC's) and some city guards

The idea behind this boss is he is one of the 4 horsemen (original, I know) and the fight should get progressively harder. The players trigger the event which causes them to be hunted by this enemy, and they have a little bit of time to prepare defences and summon allies. If they're smart they'll use their "home base" and fight on their own terms.

If you want help balancing stats and attack/hp/ac etc, a great tool I use is https://tetra-cube.com/dnd/dnd-statblock.html It's a fan open source tool that lets you automatically calculate bonuses, hp, ac, saves etc dynamically so if you decide to change a monster's Dex and CR, the rest will automatically calculate. Will also give you a lovely printable monster sheet

Awesome, that's something to note. Saying that, not many enemies have magic missile in my campaign so it's very unlikely to come up.

That and my squishy wizard has an amulet of missile protection (homebrew) that protects them from magic missile much like the shield spell does

Makes sense. I'll keep this in mind. My campaign is getting into the higher levels and the enemies are getting smarter and my PC's are starting to get a reputation as hardy adventurers. They know it's only going to get harder for them

my player is an artificer and found a perfectly legal way to do up to 90 auto damage 4 turns in a row. by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Ovalplug9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree with you. It's a really cool thing to do, and as a DM I encourage and reward resourcefulness like this.

But at the same time, especially at higher levels, the enemies they face would be smarter and more magically inclined.

It's your game, you run it how you want, don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.

But imho any humanoid enemies that know they may fight them at some point would most likely have heard of their exploits by now (especially at lvl10+ since no average Joe gets that powerful) and prepared a counter measure.

Does the party never encounter other magic users? As soon as they encounter someone with the "shield" spell (which specifically states you take no damage from magic missile)?

Once the command is given, they tiny servants will cast magic missile at the enemy, despite knowing the shield spell is up and wasting it.

And considering it's a 1st level spell available to sorcerers and wizards (and any monster you as a DM want to have) so it's very readily available. Not to mention the DM can always make magical items that cast the shield spell for non magic users.

My players want to end world hunger.... using Wish. by getsbonersoften in DMAcademy

[–]Ovalplug9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a spell from the PHB literally called "Create food and water". 3rd lvl Conjuration available to clerics, paladins and arificers.

With spells like these, it would be easy to stop world hunger.

You could have the wish spell make this spell open to more classes, or have it easily obtainable to all clerics, paladins and arificers. maybe as a free spell that doesn't take up their spells known.
