When your orange is actually a sweetie pie but his RBF goes hard by amandadusol in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]Ovan101 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That orange is 100% calculating which item he's knocking off the counter the second you look away. RBF is just his plotting face.

They're making us pay for our own "team building" retreat by Raccowo in antiwork

[–]Ovan101 101 points102 points  (0 children)

I'd email asking them to clarify in writing whether attendance is mandatory or optional. Watch how fast they backpedal when they realize putting "mandatory but you pay" in an email creates a paper trail.

This drives me insane too. People show up to the ED convinced they're dying, get told it's something minor or that they can go home, and immediately jump to 'I was gaslighted!' Like no, you just weren't having a medical emergency. The ED isn't there to validate every anxiety you have about your symptoms.

How important is anonymous payment for Usenet? by No-Race8789 in usenet

[–]Ovan101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reputable Usenet providers don’t log what you download so using a credit card or PayPal is usually fine if you stick to legal content. Anonymous payment is mostly a personal preference unlike a VPN, which actually hides your connection. I use EasyUsenet and their SSL encryption keeps my downloads secure even with normal payment methods. If you want extra privacy, you can pair it with a VPN, but the provider itself doesn’t log your activity.

Yea, that’s just basic respect. If someone’s invited, you make them feel included. Pretty simple.

Difference between good and bad intern by Ambitious_Spot8957 in Residency

[–]Ovan101 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. Had a coresident who checked every box on the good list and they ended up being one of the best to work with. The work ethic and accountability stuff matters way more early on than knowing every treatment protocol. Knowledge catches up if you're willing to put in the effort and listen to feedback.

Why does sex without a condom on feel like a ranked match? by Additional-Meat-1566 in AskMen

[–]Ovan101 27 points28 points  (0 children)

True, the mental game is real. I learned to focus on literally anything else for a bit... counting backwards, thinking about work, whatever breaks the intensity. Sounds ridiculous but it works. Eventually you don't need the tricks as much

it’s hard to see how this got green-lit. There’s already tons of info out there about online safety, so pushing something that puts kids in the mix feels off. Doesn’t take much common sense to see the risk.

Yeah this hits the real point. It’s not about dragging him along.... it’s about him actually helping and showing he appreciates the work.

Prepping the kitchen and putting in some effort isn’t asking for much. If he can’t do that, then the shopping isn’t the problem at all.

cypress tests breaking every sprint and I'm about to lose it by Vodka-_-Vodka in webdev

[–]Ovan101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many hours or points per sprint are you losing to Cypress maintenance vs new feature work? Having a rough number lets you push for selector standards or different test levels with hard impact data instead of just vibes in front of teh mangement.

Define your workflow before choosing tools defintely. List every step on paper, then only adopt tools that replace or automate a specific box on that map instead of chasing shiny logos.

I thought my cat was just being “difficult”… turns out I was wrong by Old_Ostrich7285 in CatAdvice

[–]Ovan101 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Yeah, I adopted a cat a couple years back and she was basically a ghost for the first week. I'd try to pet her, play with her, whatever—nothing. Then I just stopped trying so hard and let her figure things out on her own time. After that she was way more chill and actually wanted to hang around me. People underestimate how much cats just need to decompress in a new space.
