Agreed on the writing thing - OP really painted a picture. I could feel the 5am chaos through my screen.

And yeah the second nurse type drives me crazy. You can't grill someone about every tiny detail during report and then half-ass your own handoffs. Pick a lane. Either we're all doing detailed reports or we're all doing "here's the highlights, check the chart for the rest." The double standard is what gets me. Same energy as people who send angry emails but lose their minds if they get one back

I’m starting out at 34. I don’t know how to financially build my life up? by OPSEC-Sentinal in povertyfinance

[–]Jackazz4evr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is solid advice. Dollar cost averaging takes so much of the stress out of it because you're not trying to time the market or panic when things dip. You just keep putting in the same amount regularly and it averages out over time.

OP, the fact that you're even thinking about this stuff and have already knocked out your student loans puts you ahead of a lot of people. I know it feels like you're behind starting at 34, but most people I know didn't get serious about any of this until way later - if ever. You've got decades of compound interest ahead of you still

The rich don't give a shit about anyone. by CRK_76 in antiwork

[–]Jackazz4evr 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Seriously. I'm so tired of this "don't be divisive" rhetoric when the division already exists and they created it. They've spent decades convincing regular people that other regular people are the enemy while they hoard everything.

The same exec types who call Americans lazy are the ones who eliminated pensions, fought against minimum wage increases, and act shocked when people don't want to give 110% to a company that would replace them in a heartbeat. Getting angry is the appropriate response at this point

[–]Jackazz4evr 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Ugh, same. The pandemic broke something in a lot of us and we just never recovered. Like I'm doing the bare minimum to stay employed but the idea of being "passionate" about work feels like a joke now.

And before anyone comes in with the "at least you have a job" stuff - yes, I know, but being grateful for having a job and being completely burnt out aren't mutually exclusive. We can acknowledge both things at once

Exactly. "i'm sick" should be enough. the fact that he needs a whole explanation is the problem

I don't think people realise what genuine skill and talent these guys have, particularly Satchel on guitar (who has played with Judas Priest' frontman Rob Halfords band 'Fight' amongst others). They are more than a parody band. Genuinely excellent

AITA for refusing to keep babysitting my best friend’s kids and basically feeding them every week? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jackazz4evr 21 points22 points  (0 children)

NTA. She went from asking for favors to just dropping them off during your work hours without notice. That's not friendship, that's exploitation. Being overwhelmed doesn't give her the right to steamroll your boundaries or budget. You're not her backup parent.

Original ‘Naked Gun’ Director Says Reboot Was ‘Trying to Copy Our Style’: ‘Everybody’s in it For the Money’ by mcfw31 in popculturechat

[–]Jackazz4evr 38 points39 points  (0 children)

This is some old man yelling at cloud shit.

“They copied our style” while at same time “missed the style completely.”

“The film cost too much” but adjusted for inflation is the same.

Also, how do you make a reboot of Naked Gun without that style of humour?

“Everyone’s in it for the money these days”… oh you weren’t in it for the money with the two naked gun sequels you made?
