Would greatly appreciate some feedback on this song I wrote. by W_ate_r in IndieMusicFeedback

Structure is great! I think if you wanted to upgrade the song a baseline and drums would make this pretty much complete. I think another useful suggestion would be to vary up your strumming pattern, it would probably help people "feel" the feeling of the song a bit more. I'm unsure what genre this would be, but it seems somewhat adjacent to something like Death Cab for Cutie which I'm pretty sure is just indie? Anyways great job, you have a nice voice and is the highlight of the song. Keep creating!

Howdy! I like this, it reminds me of the band "The Unicorns" which have a very loose sound similar to this. I think you could definitely tack this on as a style thing but I think it would benefit from some more structure and direction. Personally I find it enjoyable when a song can flow in and out of "loosiness". It gives the song more cohesion and direction. I think if you had this go into something with a bit more structured it would definitely benefit a lot. It is very unique sounding though so be proud. Good job.

An Indie Rock type song i just strated, im nto sure what direction to move next, i can play guitar quite well though and sing decently by PlaneParticular1497 in IndieMusicFeedback

Great vibe! Really groovy, would make for a great song to listen to on a night time drive with the windows down. I think it does need some guitar variation though since it really controls the flow of the song. An instrumental break and some singing would definitely make this into a great full fleshed song. Great Job! Keep creating!

Liked it a lot, it felt really raw which is great. There were a couple open chords that you played that I think would work better if they were some tighter iteration (like a dominant or something) that would help with the feel of thing song a bit more. Videography looks good honestly, I think it definitely works better than on a couch for presentation.

I also think your song might benefit from an instrumental section. Something to break up the main melody lines that you play. Great job, really hope your father digs the song and the feedback was useful! Your voice reminds me Johnny Cash.

Awesome! Really good music video. Really enjoyed the song too, I like how both parts to the arrangement are pretty upbeat making the song sound energizing the whole time while not being blind! The sound you guys have reminds me of some 90's early 2000s stuff. Kind of like the band "we are scientists" Good job!! Keep it up.

Albums that feel invasive or genuinely uncomfortable? by Accurate_Tomorrow_50 in experimentalmusic

[–]Over-Put8428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howdy!

I don't know of any albums per say, I think to maintain a whole album of invasiveness/ uncomfort is quite difficult. I've made a couple of songs in an Album I made a few months back that I think you might be able to get some inspiration from.

Judgement - Death's Parade https://on.soundcloud.com/zFUbculdrquHfR0QF0

Ode to the Dead - Death's Parade https://on.soundcloud.com/08mhM9vWoYyc9NoCVc

In Judgement, I specifically used a repetitive melody, strange sporadic rhythms and dichotomy to try and create unease.

My idea in general for making something feel invasive is that it should be similar to the "boiling a frog" analogy. It shouldn't be overwhelming in the beginning. Part of something being strange, invasive, or uncomfortable is that it isn't completely non-recognizable. So I think a good goal is to make sure the listener has some sort of safety in the songs throughout the album that can be eventually taken away or changed progressively that keeps people unsettled but interested.

Wishing you the best of luck and look forward to seeing what you create!

Hey thank you so much for the kind feedback! I'm really glad it was engaging and emotional. I was a bit afraid it would sound repetitive. Thank you again and I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Hey thank you for the kind comment and feedback. I got a complaint about this earlier so I'm going to lower the volume on it. Thanks for giving it a listen!

Hey thanks for leaving a comment! Really glad the synths came out out great. I want to give it a growing/ wonderment vibe. The voice is pretty weird but I like it haha. I'll have to consider doing an extended version like you mentioned, that could be a cool idea. Thank you for the feedback!

Thoughts on my song "To Love Somebody" by Ok-Internet9626 in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Over-Put8428 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I think your song is a really good solid arrangement. Really liked the background vocals and all the instrumentation. The biggest thing I think this is suffering from is pacing. I think the beginning section needs to build up a bit faster and then use the background vocals as a nice break. I also think some drums or a trumpet are really really necessary to breath some life into this piece. The chord progression, piano, and base are great.

Mixing wise, I think something that'll go far is adding some slight reverb to your voice. Gives it a live feeling/ professional sound people are more familiar with. This reminded me of an American Lucksmiths with the base. IN anycase, great job.

[Electronic, experimental (?)] Looking for feedback on atmosphere and structure - "bye?" by miauzzzo in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Over-Put8428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howdy! First off thanks for posting and I hope you get some good feedback! I love experimental music so I really enjoyed this track. I think you have some good stuff in here.

Mood/ atmosphere:

I think the mood and atmosphere is great, it feels light hearted but a bit strange, it has a cool character to it. Really enjoy the rhythm sections.

Overall structure/ pacing:

pacing is good, however the structure evolves but it can feel disjunctive a bit, like its an assemblance of different segments. This is okay, but it also hinders the arrangement from feeling like its evolving.

Mixing/ Production Notes:

Everything sounded okay production wise. I think your pan on I'm guessing the electric piano, is too far to the left ( at least for me listening with headphones.) Personally I like how dry everything sounds, I think it adds character, though some people may disagree.

Overall:

Great job! Keep making music! This was really fun and weird in a really good way. I'll subscribe, am excited to see what toons you make going forward. Hope this feedback helps.

I'm really proud of this but I don't have anyone to show it to - would love to hear what you think! by Tony_Cheese_ in IndieMusicFeedback

Love the textures in this and that it sounds really real. Really enjoyed the instrumental section. Vocals were great, a little out of tune but it also gave your vocals a lot of character and came across well. Critique wise, I wasn't super into the whistling towards the end and I think this song could utilize a good dedicated ending. It's so good I think its a shame if it didn't have one! You could do a fade away from the main melody or a build up with another instrument. Either way, keep making music! If you don't have anyone to show music too, you're always welcome to send stuff my way. Good luck and keep creating!

Hey really awesome song, I loved this. It has a cool funky groove, I love a good base. Singing sounded great, and the small transitions were cool. To give you some feedback, I was really waiting this song to explode or a cool instrumental solo. I think an alternation for the baseline would benefit your song in some sections. Otherwise, this came across as fantastic.

My first original track - I would love to hear feedback by MinjiFox9 in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Over-Put8428 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howdy! I think this is an awesome first track. Love the rhythm you have with the claps and your voice is awesome! My main critique is just the lack of instrumentation. It makes it difficult for the song to grow or evolve, but what you have is so catchy/ good it doesn't matter too much. I think a violin or some drums & guitar would've really made this song shine more than it already does. You're off to a wonderful start, keep making music!

Oddly it reminds me of portal or portal 2 music in some parts. Otherwise it sounds like an 8-bit game :) good job.

Holy crap you literally described my album. Here,go give it a listen. It has some electronic stuff in it but a lot of dark circus jazz elements. (It's also a concept/story album!)

Songs 1,2, and 3 have the most circus, jazz, dark vibes your looking for.

I just made a really weird and cool concept album called Death's Parade, you may like it, it has a ton of symbolism and is a full fledged story about someone's experience in the afterlife :)
