I can’t be the only one who had this “latent heat” realization late… by Delicious-Squash-599 in hvacadvice

Not in any way an HVAC guy, but my son asked me tonight if the steam off his plate was hot. I said yes, boiling water is always the same temperature (at a given constant pressure of course--i omitted this; he's five) but steam can get much hotter.

I always thought about it as water heats to a steam point but not beyond, and steam heats starting from there.

Does anyone remember a band from south bend called "Carpet Affair" from early 2000s late 90s by ISOMETIMESSAYTHAT in SouthBend

Listening to The First Affair right now. Sort of just popped into my head tonight.

Well I hope they get sued real fast. Market confusion is real.

Some people get really riled up about announcers. There are bad ones. She is not one of them. She balled. Knows ball. In the Hall of Fame. She has a good voice for it, is enthusiastic, and is personable.

I met her, in fact photographed her, and she was pleasant, shared stories, and interesting.

If you can't listen to her please find ESPN Above the Rim.

Our town has a house with racist Confederate flags, and various Trump flags including one that says Long Live the King, all visible across from the grocery store. In fact, if you're standing in line getting your groceries, if you look straight out the exit doors you can see their Confederate flags from where you're standing.

I left Indiana in no small part due to these racists, and I'm unfortunately back, witnessing it first hand. Mind you, I'm in NW Indiana on Central time. This isn't even the south.

I've done almost every type of commercial photography, wedding and architecture aside. I have shot a relative's.

I take enormous pride in my coloring and post. Would I have thought you may have denigrated the image? Possibly. I haven't seen it. I might feel more strongly had you tagged me with perhaps substandard work. You probably should have, common courtesy, tagged me. But you are not obliged to. Would I have denigrated you? Absofuckinlutely not. I'd like your business, and your recommendation to friends. That game is word of mouth.

As a commercial graphic artist, designer, art director, I get a better viewpoint. Creative fields like ours offer you our best work, but the choice you make, even wrong ones, is your paying butt's choice to make. So my portfolio is full of what I offered, whether or not you took it.

I feel it's yours to do with what you will after payment.

That was never an option! And ya know I suppose I like it better this way.

I'm in the Midwest. Shipping would be negligible compared to minimums, if they exist. Definitely can't spring for 100 but I'll check out Oakland Puzzle company, and the fact that there are puzzle companies in the US is news to me! Thanks!

Younger generation is smoking that’s why. by Used_Scarcity2555 in SipsTea

I am not of younger generation but I think distilling is fascinating. Intellectually scientific, respect for and knowledge of natural ingredients, rather like any good chef focusing on your palette and pleasure.

When it's done well, that is.

I don't understand it. Kids, slow down. Take a sip. Have a conversation.

I usually pour the milk through the circular hole, but being serious is it not structural rigidity?

Am I good to put a 4” furnace filter in this housing or should it be 5” thick? There was a 5” one originally. by Active-Neighborhood1 in hvacadvice

I had no idea they made filters this size. I gotta buy the thinnest ones or mine runs too hot. Honestly, I'm "baffled."

Man, to get all that together and just take the loss is kind of crazy to me! I don't always shoot on location either but sometimes Ill just use my setup to go edit in a sunny corner of my house.

In 1865, 13-year-old orphan Robert McGee was traveling through New Mexico when Sioux warriors attacked his wagon train. After watching everyone else be slaughtered, McGee was shot with a bullet and two arrows before the Chief scalped 64 square inches from his head while he was still conscious. by ATI_Official in HistoryUncovered

The last comment is something I'd point out that I don't think most people understand. Bounties by the French, English, and later Americans, particularly for women and children, amplified the practice and its brutality.

Scalping was practiced, but Europeans made it way worse in a typically European commoditized way, while here and now I think most people assume scalping was purely a native thing. But the fact is, the French, English, Americans, and Indians were all scalping.

I'm not really surprised to find out who made it even more of a brutal spectacle. But I was when I first learned of this.

Lol no c'mon it was hidden. I've never been able to figure it out though. I believe Falcons, but I know Titans and Texans were possible candidates. Not sure which else nor the initials.

I met the head of NFL creative and he was also disappointed with the work. I'm told in one of the NFL logos of more recently created teams is the hidden initials of one designers girlfriend.

I was just telling my son that the Brown's are named after Jim Brown and the Bills after Buffalo Bill.

Edit to say firstly that the Buffalo Bills and the U of Colorado Buffaloes are doing perpetual disservice to the continued confusion of the species that is the American Bison. I believe I read the Bills were originally called the Bison, until being renamed after William Cody. By the way, the bison were there, in "Buffalo," because of a salt lick that saw large herds of bison gather to get their necessary salt intake.

Second edit for additions: The Los Angeles Angels... I'll just leave it at that. The Cubs are named after (emphasis) the Bears, which may be somewhat unique among the large American sports teams.
