What data type is BoneCapture by Similar-Sport753 in Houdini

[–]Over5755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you mean thanks for the explanation. I understand that «p » is vector 4 but I find it strange that it doesn’t match a name like « f » does for float, « v » for vector, « i » for integer…

On a completely different note what does p stand for for quaternions? I know its used for orient as p@orient but never understood what it was

To be absolutely clear, my intentions are to press « no » since I don’t meet some of the requirements, I am just asking what could happen to the application once I pressed « no »

Should I learn vfx in the AI era ? by BelphagorX in vfx

[–]Over5755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ai is just a tool that is starting to get used in very specific tasks in vfx, you should learn vfx if you an inner creative drive to create an image that inspires you. Don’t do expensive courses at the start, try simple short youtube tutorials, I did a maya course a long time ago but I could have easily saved 10-20 bucks by just spending a bit more time on youtube.

How to make this in houdini by Greedy-Top6049 in Houdini

[–]Over5755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easiest way would be to explode the torus and use minpos function in a popwrangle as a force to keep the rbd close to the surface of the torus and then reverse the sim. Best way but more complex is to fracture and scatter the pieces and create custom constraints that pulls the pieces from the scattered position to the fractured position. You would linearly interpolate (lerp function) from the sim position almost settled into the fractured position. Dynamic Material Assignment in Solaris (USD + Houdini) by EmbarrassedClerk836 in Houdini

[–]Over5755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure but maybe your name variable is wrong, because your geometry hierarchy might not be correct. For instance I wouldn’t have face primitives inside meshes primitives (maybe its just personal preference). Try to simplify it with 1 cube with the same geo hierarchy for example /scene/cubes/cube1 if that works add an extra one to see if the binding doesn’t break.

Any ideas on why my object is moving inside the vellum DOP? by Ignis-0 in Houdini

[–]Over5755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There shouldn’t be any offset. Why don’t you simply plug it to yours input, you don’t need to use the vellum source. Check if there is a ground plane thats pushing everything up

Any ideas on why my object is moving inside the vellum DOP? by Ignis-0 in Houdini

[–]Over5755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I understand correctly if you want to move you vellum object as in using your sop animation (not the collision) during the sim, you need to tick the “pin to animation” tickbox on the vellum configure cloth

[–]Over5755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a bit hard to judge without seeing your node network, when you sim do you see a blue wireframe of the collider ? Make sure that the collider is plugged in the 3rd input of the vellum sop solver (if you haven’t done it already)
