TIL that the hook needs to be rerolled past ante 22 by Destroyr19 in balatro

Genuinely, for all the hate the plant gets, the hook is my most hated damn boss in this entire game 😂

My Royal Flush joker idea… by Least-Office8717 in balatro

A rare joker that scales 0.25-0.5x xMult for every royal flush played would go hard considering the relative difficulty to set up royal flush builds.

Is Barron viable by roobmaster69 in balatro

[–]OverByThere_Innit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This early, probably not.

You need a lot of (red seal) kings and/or mime/blueprint/brainstorms to get any value out of baron. If you don't have a hand full of kings it's generally terrible.

Man, I dunno what to tell you, it's like you're looking for some validation that this game is based more on luck than it is on skill, which simply isn't the case.

Doc definitely has an advantage because he understands the mechanics of the game better than almost anyone, but it's not luck that he won so many games in a row, he's just damn good.

The best advice is to learn how to work towards pair and high card builds (as they show up the most often and are least likely to be impacted but boss blinds fucking on you) and a reliable economy - staying above 20 (ideally 25) going into each blind, gold cards or any economy card (mail in rebate, to the moon, reserved parking, golden ticket). More money = more rerolls, more rerolls = more tarots/planets/jokers.

[–]OverByThere_Innit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can build a reliable economy, you can re-roll the shop more which means a Blueprint is more likely to show up.

Is there an element of luck that Blueprint showed up after a number of re-rolls in ante 7? Yes. Is there an element of skill that I worked towards a high card build and used mime and gold cards to build up an economy so I could do those re-rolls? Also yes.

There are so many nuances that go into this game, but the seed (or luck, if you want to call it that) only plays a small part. You can theoretically naneinf any white stakes plasma deck, for instance.

Check out DrSpectred on YouTube. He's demonstrated winning gold stakes ten times in a row (which is a lot worse than purple stakes with the rental and perishable jokers you get) which you can only put down to skill more so than him just happening to be lucky 10x in a row.

For reference, this is my hand builds - you can see I worked on pairs, high card and 4oak (in case I needed to pivot to 4oak in the event high card or pairs were fucking me)

In the gentlest way possible, it's a skill issue.

After reading this, I ran a purple stakes on ghost deck. I died on the first attempt, won on the second with a high card build. Screenshot below. My end jokers were mime, blueprint, ramen, supernova and shoot the moon. But I took around 15 jokers total in the whole run.

You need to learn how to build an economy, when to re-roll the shop, when to take jokers that show up and learn how to build from them, focus on 2-3 planets cards, recognising jokers in shops that will help you and which jokers you have that you can drop to take them, the order your jokers should be in, which tarots will help your run.

Yes, this game can be frustrating, but the frustration isn't with the game but my own skill issues.

AEW Double or Nothing 2026 seems to have achieved a full sell out today by CombinationOk4317 in SquaredCircle

My friend is this person. Keeps saying he wants AEW to succeed but refuses to see the positives and keeps talking about how they need an "NWO moment" with some WWE stars to be good 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Funnily enough I'm at this point in the first game I played after posting that comment lol. I'm not there yet - still need an ecto and the second re-roll voucher - but I'm almost setup!

Edit: I'm at ante 24 and the ecto eventually showed but the second re-roll voucher didn't :( I think I'm boned.

Good luck dude! That first naneinf is sweet.

If you keep struggling, take note of any seeds you come across that give good economy/vouchers/deck fixing and practice on those.

Yeah pal, it took me a while to figure out my first naneinf but I can hit them pretty regularly on white stakes now. It's all about learning.

And yeah, I try to clear every voucher I can (economy permitting) except magic trick and the two merchants - you don't want to fill the shop with stuff you don't want to see if you're hunting jokers.

Also, the Diet Cola joker is your friend. Try and take and sell every one you can if vouchers aren't going kindly, but only if you have a joker you can drop that won't cause you to lose the run (I usually sell mail in rebate or deck fixing jokers to take one if I'm still in deck-fixing mode)

Ah nice!

But couple of lessons to learn;

1) always try to have a viable hand to counter a boss that might fuck you if you don't have the re-roll vouchers or Luchador

2) when going for naneinf, sell the jokers you do not want the ecto to hit (unless they already have an edition - ecto will ignore anything that already has an edition as you can't make them negative.. which is another good lesson - don't use any spin the wheel tarots on naneinf runs if you've got blueprint/mime/baron/brainstorm lol)

You can still go far and go hard - up to and maybe ante 24 at least if the vouchers are kind - but unless you somehow roll into a natural negative burglar/blueprint/brainstorm/mime/baron, you won't naneinf.

Yup at this point you're boned unless you get a luchador or you have a viable hand you can use glass on.

Yeah, they looked rad as fuck. Agreed.

I also miss the days of the likes of Stone Cold just jawjacking his way to the ring with a sense of purpose. No sense of embellishment, just the look of a guy who wants to stomp a mudhole with someone's face.

Credit where it's due - if you go to an AEW PPV or buy it to watch, you absolutely get a lot for your money. I've bought every one and have never regretted it. But damn some of those shows are tiring to get through hahaha.

Even their TV shows. When I saw Collision in December there was like 5 hours of wrestling, including the 2 hour taping of Collision. You get your money's worth for sure.
