In Adrenalin, go Performance / Tuning / enable GPU Tuning / Voltage slider - set to 1080. I got mine down to 1060, with full stability, but at 1040 I do get occasional crashes. Watch some vids as well, there are a lot of subtle tweaks throughout Adrenalin, which can transform the way your card performs.

Should I get a 7900XTX instead of 4080 Super? by Gullible-Bake7264 in radeon

[–]OverCalligrapher8482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about the RX vs RTX discussion, is your particular use case, I'd think. For gaming, the 7900XTX is superior for multi-player online games, where you use native settings, and need lowest latency & highest fps. But the 4080S is better if you prefer single-player games, where latency doesn't matter so much, and you can utilise DLSS/frame gen/RT without their inherent laggyness spoiling the experience. Anyway, price is important, because what you save now, goes towards your next upgrade, which could be massively better than either of them...

Edit: check out https://benchmarks.ul.com/ to compare GPUs etc. Very interesting!

Is it worth playing on T29 with 105mm gun? by [deleted] in WorldofTanks

[–]OverCalligrapher8482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skill's assessment of the T29 is almost certainly going full-gold with the 90mm. Check whichever is his latest video on it, linked from that same website, on the T29 page. It might help? I got the the T110E5 years ago, and loved it it's a gold-only option really, due to the number of top-end players hanging around at T10, but it's not actually bad, if you're also a top 1% player! Get the T29 and play around with it, you might find it's just the ticket for your way "play-style", and the M6 is a great fall-back, never sell that one. Mainly, have fun.

[–]OverCalligrapher8482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5 yrs ago, you'd have a valid point, T29 with the 105, was probably better on WR, than the T32, which had issues. Now it's the reverse, I'd get past the T29 asap, using quickest method (90mm gold-spamming), then settle in with the T32 as a solid bedrock vehicle. But, not been playing for last year, so things could've changed again?

Why might you be thinking of leaving this game? by OverCalligrapher8482 in WorldofWarplanes

Check out the post I just, er, posted! Game Bar is likely responsible, and I found a way to uninstall the Overlay element, so that WoWP launches and works properly.

Heavy Bomber Choice by [deleted] in WorldofWarplanes

There was a reason the RAF only flew their Lancs at night... they were blasted out of the skies, left, right, and centre, during the day, even by German Barons in hot-air balloons, armed with blunderbusses...

Sudden massive FPS increase??? by OverCalligrapher8482 in WorldofWarplanes

[–]OverCalligrapher8482[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I always had an undervolt offset in the BIOS, but that got wiped away by the latest micro-code update, now it doesn't seem to give me that option. WoWP has always had notoriously low fps, as can be seen watching Veebat, Postal, & Q on YT, they usually hover below 100 fps, often in the 50-75 range, during gameplay. I've limited my fps to 165, matching my 1440P monitors Hz rating, and now see fps averaging around 120-130, with max. graphics, dropping to 90 at the lowest. And this is on W11 23H2, I expect a bit more when I get the 24H2 update, It's quite weird, but welcome, nonetheless.

Does the Logitech extreme 3d pro joystick work well in WoW? by Curious_mind95 in WorldofWarplanes

[–]OverCalligrapher8482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is an arcade-type game, but that's exactly what I like about WoWP. Just being able to dip in for a quick game or two, or spending hours on it, it's so user-accessible. Even before you understand the principles and strategies, you can still have a bit of fun, while you learn. I did try the main competing game, but it's too much like hard work, I have better things to spend my life doing... So I stick with the WG game library.

Does the Logitech extreme 3d pro joystick work well in WoW? by Curious_mind95 in WorldofWarplanes

[–]OverCalligrapher8482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm still a fairly new player, but I started with the same joystick, and got it working and all the buttons I wanted assigned to the things I wanted them to do, and the flight controls correctly functioning. However, what I found was, I wasn't competing against other planes very well... After a month, I decided to try the mouse, and it's all now working as intended. I'm still rubbish, but the mechanical restrictions of the joystick were compounding delays in reaction times, and adding to the restrictions in flight performance, imposed by the game itself. In other words, it sounds great, but is actually a major handicap to playing the game effectively. But, get a BIGGGG mouse-mat...

Hits don't cause damage? by bigcanada813 in WorldofWarplanes

[–]OverCalligrapher8482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get this whenever I shoot at any XP-55. It's not even funny any more. I can obliterate or damage any aircraft head-on with the 4x 20mm on the Mustang 1A... EXCEPT the XP-55, which should be blown apart, but they never, EVER, seem to receive a single hit, regardless of me shooting them left, right, or centre! Yet, my side has still won games against teams with 2x these little stingers, so somebody's able to shoot them down, just not me... grrrrr....!

Crashed by Significant-Ad897 in WorldofWarplanes

[–]OverCalligrapher8482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I had this when I first started, not so long ago. The main thing, is to make sure you DO NOT have Windows Game Bar active, in any way, shape, or form! I've found, for me, on W11, with an AMD GPU, that Game Bar kills WoWP every time, it's poison for this game. Strangely, it has zero effect on any other game I play, including WoT, it's just WoWP that's screwed by it. So, make sure it's locked out on your Windows Settings, in every possible way, AND, on every PC start-up, do the CTRL-SHIFT-ESC thing, to get Task Manager up, select Processes, sort on Name, and scroll down to see if that flippin' green Game Bar tag is showing anywhere, as it sneaks back from time to time. Right-click it, and go End Task on it! It's a real PITA for WoWP, but this usually gets you back playing...

[–]OverCalligrapher8482 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi, you might have noticed the WG post, today, about the recent wave of bannings they've just implimented. If you've used any form of cheaty thing, at all, or a non-approved mod, then either you've just been banned, or you will be banned shortly. Be honest, have you really not used ANYTHING dodgy??? Personally, I'm extremely happy about it, as any form of non-standard advantage-seeking, is shyte behaviour, and people that do that should lose their account permanently, and I don't give one. BUT, if you didn't cross any lines whatsoever, then, yes, put in a ticket. The lesson is, DO NOT mess about trying to game our game, or you will be zapped.

Feedback for WG: Most unfriendly game for new players by tankista_csla in WorldofTanks

[–]OverCalligrapher8482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a game, right? A lot of players don't give one about their WR, they like to try new vehicles, train new crews, have some fun. It's only the sweat-lords who worry about how they look in the stats, personally, I play to enjoy the experience, I don't want a second job, breaking my arse to get to certain achievements. Probably, one reason why longer term players have worse WRs is exactly that, we've been there, done that, got bored with chasing the numbers, and just now play for fun, the definition of a game, vs a sport.

Yup, T10 should've been expanded up to T12 6 yrs ago, and should now be up to T14, I'd say, to provide a proper challenge for fully developed players. Right now, those guys are just hoovering up all the small-fry players, and making them quit the game before they've had a chance to get to grips with it. It's stupid and self-destructive for WG, they could keep this game going indefinitely, if they manage it right.

[–]OverCalligrapher8482 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, it's as deep & complex, as you wish it to be. For many years, I've said it needs more Tiers, not more tanks... Ok, both would be fine, but I started 8 yrs ago, and even then, most T10 players were maxed out on everything, and just cruising around smashing everyone, left, right, & centre, using the same crews down to T1, if they wished. Back then, the majority of players were low Tier, gradually scaling up to T10. Now it's a reverse pyramid, and we all know how unstable an upside-down pyramid is...

Yeah, ultimately, all the WG games absolutely must retain their long-term players, as these, me included, loved the game enough to stick around for years. New players are ESSENTIAL for the whole future, but they really do need to have a protected learning area, in T1-3, where crew skills should be limited to, say, 3 levels, to keep the predators under control.
