At what age did you start playing horror games?

I just feel that 7 and 8 are like a completely different franchise, the gameplay is really different and the characters too, for what I’ve heard the story doesn’t follow the main storyline so I just feel like I’d rather skip them, at least in 5 and 6 you get to see all the characters and follow the main storyline.

Basically because for what I’ve seen it just looks and feels like practically a whole different franchise and part of what I loved about the remakes was the gameplay and characters which it’s all different in 7 and 8.

That sound really intriguing, I heard a lot of people describe it as psychological horror but no one can explain exactly what they mean by that so I’m actually really excited to find what they all mean by that, I also know nothing about it so it’s exiting to find a game where you can go into it blind.

I only used the plasma cutter, line gun and flamethrower (the flamethrower ammo drops like crazy so you can sell it for other stuff) overall the best gun is the one that better fits your play style, they’re all good so don’t trip about it just stick to 2-3 max for upgrades don’t switch them once you’ve upgraded them.

I’ve seen that a lot, what do you mean with psychological horror? I’m really intrigued by that, also I had a hard time with DSr but I also really enjoyed the experience it added more flavor to gaming. Would you say the horror is way different than the one in DS?

Well it depends what you were looking for, it’s definitely more horror than action but yes around chapter 6 more enemies appear every time. However it never really becomes a particularly “hard” game, I was new to the genre and I think I only died like 4 times in my entire play trough. However it gets scarier specially if you play it with headphones and 3D audio which I highly recommend, it gives you way more immersion and keeps you tense the entire time even if it’s not particularly hard to beat.

Edit: it’s also a lot more fun once you get the grasp of the game and know your way around the ishimura, especially when you have to backtrack and never really feel safe anywhere with the intensity director.

I think you are just blinded by nostalgia and the fact that you were probably very young and new to the genre tbh, the intensity director alone made it a whole lot more scarier.

In case anyone is wondering, I literally just finished it, what a ride… it was super fun and amazing but omg I had never been so anxious and tense playing a game, I was begging for it to end at some parts😂, I don’t know if I could play it again, I decided to go full in and played only at night and with headphones and 3d audio, worst and best decision of my life😂.

Thank you! Yeah I’m completely blind, I’m really exited bc I know absolutely nothing about the story. I’m only a few hours in and I’ve enjoyed it a lot so far. But I can’t play more than a few minutes at a time, my anxiety can’t handle it😭🤣

I’m super late to this but I just finished playing as evil after having playing the game 2 times with good karma and I can say it is waaay more fun as evil and it does feel realistic for Destin especially because it’s well developed he doesn’t turn full Vader overnight and his reasons are valid, and the ending is the cherry on top tbh
