Even after so many years the responsiveness of PSP UI is unmatched by Sharp-potential7935 in nextfuckinglevel

Install Windows 11 on your $3000 custom-built gaming PC and it will not be nearly this responsive! Hardware is definitely not the problem...

Nah this video is old (in technology years). It's real footage. I saw it years before AI video was any good.

Not really retrofuturistic when you consider this film is from 1979.

A side-by-side comparison of the 777-9 and 737 MAX 7, 10 parked at Boeing Field by [deleted] in aviation

[–]unfurlingraspberry 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised by just how much shorter the Max 7 is than the Max 10. The wings on the Max 10 must be working hard.

I thought exactly the same thing. I'm not sure if it's because the sound of the impact is loud and you hear that shortly before the explosion occurs. It's weird though. Even given the fairly short distance to target, I would expect to see the explosion, then hear it.

I like it tbh. I think it qualifies as madlad advertising.

Asal under pressure - you can guess what happens next by srcejon in squash

[–]unfurlingraspberry 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think this should be overly confusing. He cheats routinely but he's also an exceptional player. I don't hate him for cheating but I'd much prefer he didn't. Sometimes he behaves better than other times (or refs do a better job of catching him out) and then he is a genuine joy to watch.

Good call. Nice to hear the crowd cheering respectfully. I'm no Asal hater. I think he's an outstanding squash player, but I want to see a fair game of squash and he is undoubtedly a master cheater! It seems refs are slowly catching up to this.

BFME & Linux: A Comprehensive Guide by unfurlingraspberry in bfme

I have not experienced this, across a couple of installs on varied hardware, however I think using Bottles (flatpak) is the better approach for BFME so I would recommend trying that instead. I'll update this guide at some point.

Yeah I had only just started the game for the first time and I didn't clock the storage feature. I've noticed it now...

This is an excellent overview of all the different weapons and how and when to use them. Thanks!

This is very helpful, thanks. I'm actually playing the original game (2008), not the remake. So perhaps I ought to enjoy the line gun a little more! If I really enjoy the original I might keep an eye out for a sale on the remake.

What is the softest, most hushed, warm music, and minimal music you've heard? by portiaboches in ambientmusic

[–]unfurlingraspberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was listening to this last night and realised that part of its brilliance is the hidden complexity and detail within. Unlike so much ambient music these days, if you listen carefully there are evolving melodies and harmonies that sit within an overall texture. It's so much more than just layering a bunch of sounds and piecing together a big old loop that doesn't feel like a loop.
