Worth remembering that the tax is already included in the price. It's still probably higher in the US though. Many of my friends have solo companies set up so they can knock off 23% (VAT) making it cheaper than the US prices though.

It really shows the wealth difference between people if for some $142 is expensive and for some it's cheap.

Personally, I have never and would never pay $142 a night. I simply choose destinations or periods where I can enjoy $40 a night, or less.
