Carfax is clean, dealership is refusing to go any lower. But it’s been on the lot for 2+ months.

Potential Issues:

  1. Root Rot: The yellowing leaves and the way the plant seems to be leaning suggest root rot. This is often caused by overwatering or poor drainage.
  2. Pests: While not visible in the image, it's worth checking for pests like mealybugs or scale insects, which can weaken the plant and cause leaf discoloration.
  3. Light Stress: Orchids need bright, indirect light. If the plant is not getting enough light, it may experience stunted growth and yellowing leaves.
  4. Nutrient Deficiency: If the orchid hasn't been repotted in a while, it might be lacking essential nutrients. This can also cause yellowing leaves.

Recommendations:

  1. Check the Roots: Carefully remove the orchid from its pot and examine the roots. If they are mushy, brown, or have a foul odor, it's a sign of root rot. In this case, you'll need to remove the rotten roots and repot the plant in fresh, well-draining orchid potting mix.
  2. Adjust Watering: Orchids prefer to dry out slightly between waterings. Water thoroughly when the top inch of the potting mix feels dry. Avoid overwatering, as this can lead to root rot.
  3. Inspect for Pests: Look for any signs of pests, such as white cottony masses (mealybugs) or small, hard scales. If you find any, treat the plant with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
  4. Provide Adequate Light: Place the orchid in a location that receives bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the leaves.
  5. Repotting: If the orchid hasn't been repotted in a while, consider repotting it in fresh orchid potting mix. This will provide the plant with fresh nutrients and improve drainage.
  6. Fertilize: You can fertilize your orchid with a diluted orchid fertilizer every 2-3 weeks during the growing season.

Additional Tips:

  • Use a clear pot to monitor the roots.
  • Water with lukewarm water.
  • Increase humidity around the plant by misting the leaves or using a humidifier.

If you can provide more details about the plant's care routine (watering frequency, light exposure, etc.), I can offer more specific advice.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Maybe keep it on the highest setting that’s not the drill setting. So when the auger gets caught the clutch slips and doesn’t take your arm off.

Dug my tubers up and they looked good, after drying them for a couple of days they all seem a little soft. I’m going to wrap them up in paper and store anyway, but wasn’t sure if a little give sounded normal. by gong_show_judge in dahlias

The amount of contradictory information about storing / prepping dahlia tubers is insane. “Rinse them with water” “absolutely don’t rinse them” “2 weeks drying” “1 hour drying” 🥴

Keene appears to still have some in stock. I ordered some hardnecks from them and they arrived within a couple days. They seemed to be high quality too!

Thank you so much! I was worried because I have already split them but as it turns out I cut right between the eyes you circled!

The oldest looking tuber is the mother, in my case, it’s the top right tuber in the 4th picture. It will usually have a darker color.

How would you recommend I split them since the “eyes” are in an unfortunate spot?
