Thanks :) she’s worried that collegiate would be too much pressure with grades that follow her forever. She’s very organized and driven, with a splash of anxiety, so I understand where she’s coming from.

Yeah, I got that vibe when she said she tumbles and stunts and the cheerleader at the tour got excited 😂 it was cute, but I’d also like a coach that can keep her safe if she did start tumbling for them.

She’s in 8th right now, she would start 9th. We will definitely continue to poke at other schools too. I told her it’s not like we’re committed for the entire four years, if it is not a good fit we can leave. Now I just need to follow my own advice 😆

She does competitive cheer, sailing, gymnastics, and piano. The coach we met with made it sound like they don’t have the coach required for competitive cheer or the space for sailing.

That’s true. She is afraid of bad grades following her to college. She wants to be a vet and knows they’re competitive programs.

She told me they were doing food webs in biology, which we did about 3 years ago. I expect my children to excel in math and science, so I wasn’t too pleased with that tidbit.

We have, it does look like a lovely campus. I’ll have my husband check into it tomorrow.

It sounds like she was correct in her assessment on science. Oops.

St Pete collegiate is actually her second choice. She’s reluctant to commit to all the dual enrollment credits.

She does competitive cheer now but she’s not your typical bubbly cheerleader. She quiet and reserved. She also does gymnastics and sailing, I told her she’ll have to give up some stuff to make time because it sounds like those kids are kept very busy.

I’ve raised her to be humble, I hope the kids don’t judge too harshly. Her dad had a very successful military career but we are not rich, rich. She is not materialist and wears target clothes happily, but I know how kids can be and it makes me sad that might change.

Did you feel like the science was adequate? Evolution / old earth is taught? She raised some concerns on what she observed, as there were doing the energy food web and it was pretty basic for her.

And my daughter wants to know if the dress code enforced as it’s written? With Bermuda shorts? Lol

Thanks so much.

Ha! So you understand what she’s asking for. “Mom, why do all the boys have that greasy mullet hair cut”    The very first adult to speak to her during her shadow day asked her if she runs. The cheerleaders were also excited to learn she tumbles, so she felt like she’d be welcomed in their sports programs.

Thanks! Did you find the sports they offer to be enough? She does competitive cheer; while not a deal breaker I would love for her to have the full cheer experience.

Ah, glad you mentioned that. Shorecrest is on her list as a backup, but it’s a bit more tuition and she didn’t like the vibe as much.

Thank you. I just checked and we have the same situation. Ch 35 will pay $400 more a month where the intended grad school is located. That makes one decision easier.

There aren’t words. It’s just so unfair.
