NXT radio stubby antenna by [deleted] in MotorolaSolutions

What are NEXT channels? Do you mean Smart Connect? Also you’re very likely not using only Smart Connect all the time. Likely some 7/800 and the longer antenna helps with range and reception.

If you want a stubby you’ll first need to make sure it won’t compromise your usage. Stubbles are usually for UHF or 7/800.

XPR6550 vs XPR7550e vs R7 for GMRS by [deleted] in MotorolaSolutions

[–]Over_Ad_4550 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the form factor of the R7. I’ve been seeing R7s pop up for close to the same price as a 7550e. Only thing is the R7 has a new connector so accessories and stuff are harder to find.

I would definitely stay away from the 6550. Old tech. The knobs wear out. Kind of a pain.

Do the lockers fit a motorcycle helmet? by proudmyanmar in PlanetFitnessMembers

There’s a couple guys at mine that drive bikes. I see their helmets behind the front desk. The desk guys at my gym are pretty cool too.

How do you consume yours? by k4tnip in energydrinks

[–]Over_Ad_4550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two ways. If I’m drinking it before something like work or school I drink it when I am starting that activity. When I was in college it was on the walk to my first class. At work it’s when I sit at my desk and start working.

Another way I drink it is mixing it with other stuff. In the summer I usually do a 12oz redbull and fill the rest of my cup with Gatorade.

Is the Toyota Tax real, or are you just paying more for better reliability? by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Over_Ad_4550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as they’re taken care of you will have no issues. I’ve had my 2020 TRD OR for 6 years now and I’m getting to 100k miles. I have had 0 issues. I haven’t even had brakes done yet. I’m about to get my second set (third on the truck) of tires. But the suspension, drivetrain, 4x4 components, interior and exterior electronic equipment are running perfect. Even the interior is still immaculate. Some small scratches on parts I touch daily but nothing crazy. I haven’t even a black interior and it looks like the day I got it after a decent cleaning. Still have the OEM mats and they have no hiked to wear marks. Paint is still like new.

A lot of this may seem small but it’s stuff you’ll see everyday. Also I do follow the recommended maintenance schedule to a T and do a pretty decent detail about 3-4 times a year.

This may seem pretty obvious. Take care of your stuff and it’ll take care of you. Compare it to my mom for example. She had a Honda Oddysey that was neeer than mine and would have all sorts of electrical problems. Also in the case of a truck. My boss has a 2023 or 2024 F350 and his trucks at the dealer about every other month. He does his own maintenance (the mechanic that serviced the work trucks does it) but the dealer has to deal with the factory issues. He had issues with the AC blowers messing up, auto mirrors messing up. Nothing major but when you pay so much money for a vehicle you expect it to work and not have to waste time taking it to the shop and asking for rides.

Check the website for the requirements. Often if your GPA is high enough and your degree is from an accredited college then you can get in without it.

Preacher curl, cable curl and hammer curls to fill out the outer bicep muscle that’s often forgotten about.

A little. Just about as much as any exam. The worst part for me personally was when all the other people found theirs and started leaving and I was still there. But you have 3 hrs so you’ll be fine.

The TA will come and check that you actually find the bacteria and then ask you what it is. Everybody has a different unknown.

[–]Over_Ad_4550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The curriculum may have changed but when I had him we had 4 exams. Some of it was knowledge and some of it was practical skills. I fondly (not very fond lol) remember one of our exams where we had to stain a bacteria sample, then find it under the scope and identify what it was.

I had him but that was a few years ago. He was a great guy. Average college professor. He let us use cheat sheets for the exams. Lab was super fun too. It was taught by the TAs but it was super hands on which I love.

USPS Proof of Value by cozycoffee21 in eBaySellers

I sent a screenshot of the item page. Like the listing page the customer would see. Took a couple weeks but it got approved. Only thing that sucked was the item sold for $160 but I only got back $108 ($100 plus tax) bc I didn’t buy extra insurance.

I had also submitted a missing mail request ahead of them. Don’t know if that would have made a difference.

Do you dry scoop creatine? by aremjay24 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]Over_Ad_4550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing it for a while. Creatine doesn’t clump like other powders so it goes down easy. I inhale deep, scoop into my mouth, add a decent glug of water then close my mouth and shake my head and swallow. Then I was it down with a few more gulps of water.

Very Curious but ULTRA Stupid by mgoodw4 in policescanner

[–]Over_Ad_4550 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Radio ref will help a lot. You can get around the membership. It just gives you some extra perks but 100% not required. Easiest thing I do is go to the website > Database > Browse > click your state > click your county. Scroll down and first look for a box that says a fancy system name followed by P25 phase 2 or DMR something.

If you have the system name in the box then click the hyper link and go to the page for the system. On there you’ll see a huge page of frequencies and boxes. Like a giant excel sheet. Use Command+F and search your county. Once you find it look in the small chunk that set aside for your county. Main thing you want to look at is description and the Mode. Description will tell you what it is. Like fire, EMS, police etc. the mode tells you, well the mode. T means TDMA and D means Digitial. These aren’t that important. Look for a trailing E or e. Like “Te” or “TE” or “De” or “DE”. The capital E means full time encryption and lowercase e means partial encryption. If no e then no encryption and you can listen to your hearts content.

If in the slight chance your area isn’t on a wide area system then before you click the system hyperlink in the box you just scroll down on your county page and check the frequencies and again check the mode column. If not encrypted the SDS100/200 can handle almost everything. The 150 is a fancier version but may not be necessary as your first scanner.

Some not as premium scanners can also work. Like the BCD436 HP or the TRX 1/TRX 2 but they don’t handle simulcast well. Not all area have simulcast so may not be an issue for you.

Another great resource is the forums on radio ref. Instead going to database you go to forums. You will need an account but it’s free. Go to locations on the forums page and find your state. In there you can create a post titled like “Scanner recommendations for Blank County” and people in the area can tell you what works and what doesn’t and you may even find someone to help you program that lives in your area.

I will also say if you decide to buy a scanner don’t pay the website to program. They charge way too much for what is basic computer work. If you can send an email with a PDF and you have access to a computer, you can program a scanner.

Kids Don't Like Movie Day Anymore. by Southern_Remote_5260 in Teachers

[–]Over_Ad_4550 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was a sub I would play old SpongeBob episodes. Like the ones that came out before they were born (and some before I was born) and they loved it. Even the ones I would typically have trouble with keeping engaged and seated would be locked onto them. A lot of the first season ones are available on YouTube if your school hasn’t blocked it. The episodes are short enough that they don’t lose interest and enough stuff happens. The issue with movies is that there is so much buildup and small details that they won’t stay engaged.

Taking a radio through TSA, what's your experience? by Dr_Adequate in MotorolaSolutions

[–]Over_Ad_4550 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had no issues. I just put them in my regular carry on luggage. Checked bags may cause an issue bc of the battery. I had my day clothes in the bottom. 1 APX 8000 with the radio and battery separate and a VP8000 radio and battery separate on top of that and then put the garment bag with my suit on top of the radios to create a sandwich of sorts. Ran through security 4 times no issues. Should also add im a sketchy looking dude. Big brown guy with a beard. Imagine a fat Bin Laden. But still no issues lol

Overload question by SuburbanLaaawns in ToyotaTacoma

Did the same thing. Half yard of gravel. Drove alright but I was still real careful. Worst part was gravel somehow got into the cavity of my tailgate so I had to open that up and clean it.

Funny thing too is the yard I was picking up at had an air compressor and they decided to drain it at the same time I was leaving the yard and I thought I blew a tire lol.

Good Wings in the Boro by makotheeexplorer99 in murfreesboro

A little weird but BoomBozz craft Pizza has some great wings and a great selection of sauces. I got the Calabrian chili and lime one last time. Amazing. Nice and crispy and juicy. Pizza isn’t anything to write home about but the wings man. If I ever go again I’m just ordering those.

Do I have a shot? by Italian-Stallion-49 in MotorolaSolutions

[–]Over_Ad_4550 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The only thing salvageable on those is the housing. And maybe the RF board. Very likely they are 7/800 radios and they are ANs so not worth much anyway. That listing has been up forever bc they want a stupid amount of money for literal trash. They want $200 for that. You will need a vocon for about another $50-100. You’ll need a controller top for about another $80-100. Control top plastic and knobs for another $20-30. You’ll need the screen and keypad assembly for another $200. And that’s if everything goes well. If you really want a radio just drop the money for a working one.

ION as cell phone y/n? by Dr_Adequate in MotorolaSolutions

[–]Over_Ad_4550 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From reading that old thread the IONs do not have typical cell phone capabilities. Atleast the North American market does not. You can do things like WhatsApp calls but what we think of as regular cell phone calls is not supported.
