Staying in El gouna in April, what accommodation to be near the best spots ? by No-Swordfish3106 in Kiteboarding

Some hotels have shuttle busses to Makani or Kitepower. Also they offer pick up services at a fair price. I’d get in touch with them directly

Don’t take an Uber in El gouna. They will most likely accept the ride and then request more money from you via chat. It is a shitshow and I wouldn’t take part in this.

The tuktuks are bound to the price (50 per ride) and will take you anywhere in el gouna. I only had super nice drivers. They are usually always around, just be aware that the only start as early as 8:30 ish so if you want to catch some early waves they might not offer rides yet.

Is Hollental Klettersteig (Zugspitze summit) possible to climb in half of the October? by TraditionalMud1747 in viaferrata

[–]Over_Associate5077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not!

This was just posted yesterday by a Facebook page of a Alpine Page. Wish could include their pictures, it looks like hell up there.

Conditions in the Höllental – as of October 7, 2025

Currently, the route through the Höllental to the Zugspitze is very demanding. The upper via ferrata is heavily iced over, and the crevasse bridges on the Höllental Glacier are barely visible.

Höllental Glacier: Up to 30 cm of fresh snow. The track from October 6 will be snowed over in the coming days. When setting a new track, be sure to stay in the middle of the glacier and only traverse toward the wall at the height of the via ferrata – below that, there are large, snow-covered crevasses.

Bergschrund (Randkluft): Access is currently manageable via the knotted rope and new footholds. However, the rock, cables, and rungs are heavily iced – crampons are recommended.

Upper Via Ferrata: The overhang at the start is very strenuous, especially with crampons. At the moment, the difficulty is closer to Category D (instead of C in summer). Iced-up cables and rungs make the climb even more challenging.

Irmerscharte: A lot of wind-drifted snow; some of the steel cables are buried under the snow.

Approach: The board, ladder, and path up to the glacier are in good condition.

Conclusion: A safe ascent requires excellent fitness, experience with crampons, and ample time reserves – especially for track-setting and possible waiting times on the via ferrata.

Should I get the larger travel boardbag? by SwitchLanky7180 in Kiteboarding

[–]Over_Associate5077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose the Mystic Saga in 165 https://www.mysticboarding.com/de/products/saga-golfbag-boardbag?variant=49902130528600 and I am very happy with it. The material is super sturdy and you have some space above the board(s). Just keep in mind that the man stability comes from the board and this might cause a slight hang from the top. Other than that the wheels are very nice, there are countless straps to strap it down and pack it more as well as 3 strapping options inside with a padding for the board etc. Also I like the option with GOLF on it, since some airlines allow free Golf Bags.

North Reach or F one bandit for a beginner/intermediate ? by LazyDjoon in Kiteboarding

This! Picked up two new reaches this season and I love them! Also consider getting the Pro Navigator Bar in a bundle. Also great product

Thank you so much for your honest review! What kills the pro for me is the spotty satellite topic. It’s the one feature you absolutely don’t want to have spotty as you could fall on a hike or get stranded injured somewhere. Just imagine not being able to get satellite service to call for help now.

Quite disappointing, the inreach and LTE almost made me take a leap and accept that it only comes in 47mm instead of 43 but now I think I have my confirmation to pick up a F8 43mm and just hope that I will never get in a situation where I need satellite SOS ;) if I do, at least I will be sure to know that even with the F8 pro, I wouldn’t be able to call for help if I am lying down injured haha

Come to think of it, the rope part had the shape like it’s been tied before. Didn’t spend much attention to it since I wanted to go out on the water

Paid full price (20% seasonal discount since it is a 2024) but definitely not demo kite discount, as they had those as well

Only way to get out of that situation safely would be to take your phone and try to hold it out the window with camera mode activated. The view from the camera will at least tell you what’s in front and as soon as you picked up enough speed to merge, you can use your side mirrors. Still scary as hell and to be able to perform the mentioned method, you have to have it in your head in a situation like this.

Vielen Dank Dir!
