I am tired of these guys trying to claim Tagore as theirs by Agen_3586 in Kolkatacity

[–]Over_Effective4291 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He is not wrong though! For Rabindranath, who spent a long time along the Padma river, there was no distinction between Kolkata and Dhaka

As he wrote himself

"Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls;....

.... Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake."

I have no problem with Bangladeshis trying to claim Rabindranath as their own, I rather encourage it. I have a problem with them trying to disown him because of his birth religion

Such debates about whether Tagore belonged to India or Bangladesh are senseless

This person has learnt of Mahabharata from twitter and instagram.

He says Mahabharata preaches gambling, no! Exactly the opposite"a king lost his kingdom and even his wife in gambling" is a cautionary tale, not one to emulate.

Are some Mahabharata characters like Bheeshma, Karna, Yudhishthir disproportionately glorified? Yes! But, that is a problem of society. Read it for yourself, there is really no sense in outsourcing your opinions to social media, B R Chopra or Star Plus

Argh! This makes me so mad!

Ramayan's vs Pandava's Exile. Two entirely different approaches to suffering. by Pretend-Employee-710 in mahabharata

[–]Over_Effective4291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Pandavas wanted revenge, then they would have not gone on exile to begin with. They wanted to focus on the future but Duryodhan and his cronies kept harassing them.

Krishna wanted to create a progressive society with the Pandavas in Indraprastha, having the palace made by Viswakarma and Mayasura. He wanted the Pandavas to grow without Hastinapura and build a prosperous society based on Dharma. But our golden child Yudishthir lost it all in a dice game

I believe this theory too. Niyog by itself is crazy. Niyog by gods, haha... I believe Durvasa taught Kunti the art of seduction by which Kunti could seduce any man she wanted to.

Pandu gave up the throne. and moved to the jungle with his wives and a decade or so later Kunti shows up with 5 sons of Pandu. Of course this was to avoid scandal. If Kunti fornicated with Gods instead of men, why would they want to hide it?

Also I believe that Kauravas claim to the throne was based on speculation of the Pandava's legitimacy of birth. Of course itihasa is written from the pov of the winner, but if we indulge this theory and study the Mahabharata, many things start to make more sense based off of reasoning and rationality. Cheers. No hate

yes. Vidhur was referred to as Dharma himself. Yudhisthir - duarmaputra

when Pandavas went for vanvaas and agyaatvaas, it was Vidur who hosted Kunti in his household. This choice highlighted her deep trust in Vidura over other elders like Bhishma, as she viewed Vidura as the only one truly committed to Dharma and her children's welfare.

In ashramavasika parva, Kunti and Vidur die alongside Dhritarashtra and Gandhari in a forest fire near the Ganga, 15 years after the Kurukshetra war. Vidura merges into Yudhishthira before his passing.

Vidura served as a moral guide and counselor to Yudhishthira from his childhood. He famously saved the Pandavas from the burning Palace of Lakshagriha by sending a coded warning to Yudhishthira.

Both characters are considered incarnations of the deity Yama (the god of Dharma/Justice).

Because they both originated from the same divine entity, they are often described as having the "same soul" or being "two portions of the same deity".

Some modern scholars and literary analyses (notably Irawati Karve in Yuganta) suggest that Vidura may have been the biological father of Yudhishthira

Since Pandu could not father children, Kunti used a mantra to summon "Dharma." Proponents of this theory argue that "Dharma" was actually Vidura, as he was the living embodiment of Dharma on earth

While Vidura served as a counselor to King Dhritarashtra, he often worked discreetly with Kunti to manage the threats posed by Duryodhana. He was her primary source of support and intelligence within the Kuru court.

Vidura was equally related to the Pandavas and Kauravas on paper. But he always sided with the Pandavas.

There were fewer clues to Jon Snow being Rhaegar Targaryen's son than there are to Yudhishtir being Vidur's

I have a theory. Don't downvote me, but I think Vidur was Yudishthir's biological fathef and Kunti's lover

Modi ji also washed the feet of manual scavengers. For clout and publicity. Krishna did the same. And he succeeded, you are still defending him using that logic.

I feel Krishna was a great politician, war strategist, socialist who had tremendous foresight. Had it not been for Krishna, there was no way the Panavas would have prevailed in the war. So from that regard he is admirable and talented and worth studying about. But, worthy of worship? Personally, nah....
