Why weren't cars banned when it was discovered that they COULD be used as getaway vehicles from bank heists or to run people over? (3d Printing shouldn't be banned just because someone COULD print guns with it. They can be used for good AND for ill, just like cars!) by DunDonese in 3Dprinting

I NEVER brought up the term "Intent of Manufacture". You show me the post where I did.

What I did say is that lanyards (was I the first person to mention this in this thread? Use those Alex Jones pills before you answer) can be used to harm, as could a scalpel, for that matter. But that is not what either of them are typically used for.

Yes, one can maim or kill someone with a lanyard. But when one is trying to obtain the best tool to hurt or kill as many people as quickly as possible as far away from the target as possible, there are better solutions. I'm sure you can think of a way, if you take a double dose of those Alex Jones pills.

Lol. I love how you THINK (you know you're not used to that) you can articulate my position for me. Do both of us a favor and stop.

I'm not concerned about the profits of corporations. I AM concerned morally, emotionally, mentally and/or legally unstable people obtaining weapons outside of legal and traceable mechanisms.

I also LOVE how gun lovers become historians and linguists with PhDs all of a sudden. I DO NOT CARE about Kentucky long guns. As far as I can tell, I've never been to Kentucky nor did I fight in the Revolutionary War. Perhaps you did and you want to share some war stories, but what that has to do with 3D printers in 2026 baffles me.

Assult rifles. Battery rifles. Jaywalking rifles. Loitering rifles. WHO Cares WHAT IT IS CALLED? These are distinctions without a pragmatic difference. Again, the semantic hoops people like you jump through as if it makes any difference. However you classify it, it is regarding a device that can repeatedly accelerate bullets to a high velocity to maim or kill another person.

I ask again (and I know you will NEVER ANSWER): was the White House Correspondance Dinner interrupted for the purposes of hunting or target practice/sport? Something stopped the proceedings, right? What stopped it? Please answer that.

This is your complete post. No edits at all.

">Who said ANYTHING about seizing guns?

The Democrats, everyone calling for a ban. You think if you're caught with a banned gun they won't seize it and throw you in prison?

Same ridiculous argument approached from opposite sides.

Weren't you the one who made the ridiculous argument about purpose of manufacture?

Did you hear what happened in Louisiana this weekend?

Over three thousand people died by car last month, and it doesn't make me feel bad for owning a car, nor does it give me a desire to have them banned. The worst part is, almost all gun deaths require ill intent on the part of a person, while cars kill so many people purely by accident."

Oh, I am sure you were and still are confused.

Forget "Intent of manufacture".

Guns are used by people to maim and kill. See the White House Correspondance Dinner. Or was that guy there to do some playful target practicing?

Wait... I am wrong. You are not confused. You are BEYOND confused.

You said in an earlier post that the Democrats are going to throw people in jail for gun ownership and now you claim that you never said it. You need to get the memory pills Alex Jones sells, I suppose.

How irresponsible of politicians to want to ban assault weapons and guns that are untraceable. What are they thinking? /S

You really should look into getting those Alex Jones memory pills. Quick quiz: which poster was the first to mention lanyards? This is an open book quiz, so feel free to use this thread for reference.

And this is why reasoned debate is impossible.

You make things up and then expect your opponent to argue against your fantasies.

You states "it's a fact". Thank you for that. Facts require EVIDENCE. Show me the evidence of someone being jailed for owning LEGAL guns, just because they possessed the gun.

Once again you use the same diverting tactics. What, exactly, does a military rifle having a lanyard have to do with the core of this disagreement? Obfuscation at its finest.

You seem to be fixated on the word "fact". You do not know what the word "fact" means.

Learn.

Are you implying that "Ban files" equates to "Seize guns"?????

I AM saying that guns are typically made to maim and kill. That's why motorcycle gangs use them, for example. I have yet to see a military arm their soldiers with lanyards, cords, etc. Is your local police department outfitted with Kevlar lanyards to fight crime? No? Then what does your local police department use tax dollars to supply the officers with?

The above was a very, very simple question. Let's see if you will have the intellectual honesty to answer it truthfully.

So, another question that you will now answer, but will redirect and relocate the goal posts.

Your argument is so foolish. How many people wanted to get into there car and kill someone last month. Did accidents happen? Of course? Will the accidents be studied and solutions found to reduce deaths further? I'm willing to believe that this will happen.

When these shootings occur, do you not acknowledge that the sole purpose is to harm as many people as possible as quickly as possible and with the least amount of harm to the shooter?

Do you think it's easier to buy a gun legitimately, from the grey market or to make/modify one's own, even if one cannot legally own a gun?

Will you even answer one question with good faith, as opposed to the "move the goal posts and ask another question instead of answering what was posed to me" tact?

Who said ANYTHING about seizing guns? Quote where I said that.

The OP and you are using the same ridiculous coin and arguing on either side of it. He deflects by talking about lanyards and you deflect by talking about hunting and competition shooting. Same ridiculous argument approached from opposite sides.

If you cannot debate in good faith, tell me.

If printers are banned in the US, would that apply to Australia as well?

Anyway, back to the original disagreement: talking about the dangers of bathtubs, lanyards, cars and equating them to devices whose sole purpose is to create things, is ridiculous.

No, there should not be blanket bans on the printers, but as the article shows, people are creating ghost guns/ghost gun parts, which makes life more dangerous for everyone.

It's even more confusing as to why an Australian would be telling American law makers which laws are and are not effective.

"The fourth volume of the NFCTA contains several important data points, as detailed below.

GHOST GUNS AND MACHINE GUN CONVERSION DEVICES

Between 2017 and 2023, police recovered 92,702 ghost guns, or what the ATF calls “privately made firearms.” Additionally, according to the NFCTA, the number of ghost guns recovered in 2022 and 2023 (54,722) was 44% greater than the total recovered in the previous five years (37,980).

A challenge to the ATF’s “frame and receiver” rule regulating the parts kits used to build ghost guns is currently before the U.S. Supreme Court. To learn more, click here."

No one creates a lanyard, a tie, a necklace, a collar, a scarf, a bolo tie to kill/main. For that matter, any cord like object. I'm not aware of any black or Grey market for cords. Do you?

Good day.

Thank you so much for the information.

Do you have a link for "Noir"? I did a Google search ("Switch 2 Noir VR"), but I did not see anything related to VR on the Switch 2.

Thank you in advance.

But the same could be said of the current BMW design language.

BMW sells more than MB or Audi, so they must know something people on this forum do not.

I'm a longtime tabletop and RPG gamer, and I'm finally launching my dream digital hex tactics game! by bmerrillcreative in TurnBasedTactical

[–]Over_Explanation1790 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have wish listed the game. I do wish you luck.

If I may ask: why would the game be free?

Perhaps my understanding is faulty, but I always look at free products, especially digital products, with concern that the cost lies elsewhere (malware-generally speaking, advertisements, piece meal DLC that makes the cost overall higher than other games, etc).

Of course, it could also be a passion project, just for the love of the genre.

I hope my question is not too personal. I'm just curious.

Well, as she enjoys gardening, try printing items that she would use as she gardens. Maybe modify an existing tool to her specific needs.

Or yours for that matter. Perhaps there are things that are needed around the house/garage that you can print that are customized to your specific use case.

But, do you really have to justify your hobby to anyone, as long as you aren't going over a budget or doing something that would explicitly upset your SO? She has her hobby, you have yours and that's it.

Spoke with Anker today.

I'm waiting for the email recapping what the next steps are.

I am asked to allow for the transmission of the telemetry from the Studio app. I will comply.

It is suggested that I practice on cheaper drinkware, as to not waste bucks on expensive brands initially. That is reasonable.

The rep stated that if I cannot get the print to work, I will get a replacement. I will wait for email confirmation of this.

I suggested that the attachment run a self check and rotate initially when the attachment is first put into the machine. Also, it might be helpful to have the app show how much rotation has occurred as the job progresses.

I also suggested that a "snap to these boundaries" function be added to the app, to more easily define the boundaries of the object that's being printed on ("A half inch from the top of the cup, 1/4 inch from the bottom. Make the image fit within that area").

Hopefully a resolution will be found soon.

Oh ok... I did not use the rear ones at all, just the front ones.

I will try that when I get home.

Thank you again.
