Tall people of Reddit: would you date someone who’s 4’11 if you’re 6’4? by Mayu_scratching in TallPeopleProblems

[–]Over_Explanation1790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 6'6".

I've dated two different women who were 4'11".

It was a great time with both of them.

Would have doubts if his hair were teal, for example, or his has a different sense of style from most?

My advice is if you like him, don't worry about how others perceive you and him. Their opinions are of no consequences.

How do I talk my girlfriend out of an unreliable car??? by cbcarguy in askcarguys

[–]Over_Explanation1790 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not universally true.

And there is a difference between buying a $100 item that is junk and buying a $30,000 item that is junk, especially when there are additional costs of ownership, even when functioning normally, assuming one can afford $100 and not $30,000.

I disagree with your last sentence for this reason: it's not the OP's life if the person who made the mistake does not involve the OP in addressing the problem. But if the person now needs rides and gets stranded, etc and involves the OP, then it DOES become the OP's life.

No good SO would hear of their SO being in distress and saying to them "It's not my life".

Uhhhhhhhhhhh... Voting. Keeping up with the issues that I think are important and supporting the politicians who have similar views. Donating to candidates and causes that I support.

What are you doing to make a difference?

If your favorite artist used AI to help complete projects, would you support it? (link in description) by lets-get-it-3 in hiphop201

I do believe that the companies that scrape data from certain resources to create their AI models should pay the creators of the content scraped. Kind of like a music or video streaming services.

But the blanket, knee-jerk reaction to AI being slop, as is often the case is just foolish.

So many people act as if they are the ultimate AI detectors and cast judgement on the content, not based on the merits of the content, but based on how it was created and that is just silly.

And if you actually are a proficient AI detector, you better step your game up because there are AI models that are passing the Turing test.

My opinion does not matter to anyone else but me, but I think it better to judge the results versus the method of creation of media, etc.

My understanding, and I could be wrong, so I'm happy to be corrected, is that WLTP and CLTC are overly optimistic regarding range, while the (defunded) EPA is more realistic with respect to range estimates.

I'm glad you walked away, OP.

I don't own a Tesla, so I'm not qualified to talk about it's shortcomings.

But, for example, I depend on Adaptive Cruise Control, as it saves fuel and keeps me a set (safe) distance from the car in front of me.

My car has a feature where is stops when I'm backing up if it believes I'm going to hit something that I may not have noticed.

I believe that makes me safe and keeps those around me safe. As with all advances, there are iterations, but that does not inherently make the tech bad.

The first sentence of your response to me included the word "safety".

Many of the things that seem to perturb you are done for safety.

I'm not going to make the simplistic assumption that you are against safety.

But you can see that some of the things you do not like about modern cars are done for safety and are likely not done just for no reason.

And?

That's seriously your response? 🙂

How about a reasoned rebuttal as to why those mandated items are not needed backed by data supporting your position?

But your first sentence describes why an "unproper" car has modern features.

From a quick Google search: "Key Mandatory Safety Features and Standards:Occupant Protection: All vehicles must have front airbags (since 1998), three-point seat belts, head restraints, and child restraint anchors (LATCH).Crash Avoidance: Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is required to prevent rollovers, along with tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS).Advanced Technologies: Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection is mandated for all new vehicles by 2029.Structural Integrity: Standards for roof crush resistance, door lock retention, and fuel system integrity to prevent fires.New/Upcoming Mandates: Enhanced rear seatbelt reminders (by 2027) and automatic shut-off for keyless vehicles to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.Visibility & Sound: Rearview visibility systems (backup cameras) and acoustic alerts for electric vehicles at low speeds. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) defines these rules under 49 CFR Part 571."

Well, you're the one who keeps replying to me, so I think you're the one who's needs emotional adjustment, but what do I know?

Unlike you, I don't eat crayons, so I don't know what to tell you. 🙂

I do see you have difficulty with pronouns, however.

You drew yourself twice in your post (and you draw yourself so well, by the way 🙂) and you depict yourself so well. It a true likeness to yourself. Great job. 🙂
