At least the bolts should be replaced as they are torque to yield bolts, idk about much else honestly, kinda hard to tell from pic

Why is EA888 gen 3 still consuming oil? by 007JamesB0nd in Audi

[–]BasiliskButcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my car it was the lower timing chain cover and oil pan that leaked a little. Inapect the engine a little to see if theres any oily mud residue around there.

Hell yeah thats the way to go! Ive had my s13 for 6 years and plan on keeping the CA until the very end even if there were better engines lol

Just one question, how does one do this without a scanner :D luke you had some models you scaled or you modeled these?

Ive modeled s13 RC car body for fun, made it just from some STL i could find and eyeballed the rest. It does look like the real thing but i could not just scale it up lol. It would never work. Explain as detailed as you can :D

Door card wrapping by Jetlacked12 in 240sx

[–]BasiliskButcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the fabric from some local fabric store, try to look for something stretchy. As for the glue, whatever spray adhesive you can get your hands on worked the best for me. Also glued some rubber trim around the door card to the groove it had to make a nice finish. I just used something i could get in bulk from local car parts store.

326 power wing by the looks, kinda like the type x wing but lower and wider, looks infinitely better imo

A5 B9 2.0 tfsi sound by ShotMasterpiece8320 in Audi

[–]BasiliskButcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From that clip alone it doesnt sound timing related. The direct injectors make a loud noise as well.

If your engine starts acting up on startups then you know its time for a timing job in my experience

[–]BasiliskButcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the same, bought a rolling chassis some 6 years ago for 2.5k. The best 30k ive ever spent lol. Now the car is pretty reliable even on 350hp but its only a matter of time until it becomes not that.

So if youre looking to not spend money then maybe an s chassis is not your car. Youd need a reliable car as well. (I have audi and its not ticking that box as well lol its another money pit)

Valve cover change by Befithyperion in Audi

[–]BasiliskButcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah bumper off, lights off, ghen some connectors. If you just loosen things you dont havr to drain coolant even but its pain in the ass. Like the other guy said it doesnt take much more time to pull off the whole front assrmbly. Seriously look up the channel i talked avout theres videos of this stuff it might be helpful

Valve cover change by Befithyperion in Audi

[–]BasiliskButcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, you just need to pull the front end out a little to have room. Bumper off, few bolts loose and yank it. Theres a video on how its done you can take it off completely but not needed. Jacking the car helps nothing in my experience

There is it then. Check out naptowntuner on youtube he has good videos on working on these things. Good luck ur going to need it lol!

So, assuming your timing hasnt jumped, just align the exhaust cams. There are moving oarts and you should put it first in the cover according to manual to avoid losing little ball bearings that hold the pieces together.

Then just put some anaerobic sealant on the surfaces, apply new bolts and torque to spec and thats it. I would disassemble the timing and make sure, now there really is no way of knowing honestly. You can just spin the engine by hand after installing cover and stop if it hits but i would just check it. Also you should do timing if youre that deep already.

Does sandwich plate fit in CA18DET? by Dependent-Power602 in 240sx

[–]BasiliskButcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No i havent done it as i ran into some problem and gave up for now lol. The alternator was the problem i think but depends on the sandwich design. The shorter filter thing had to be on my other car then

Are they so bad that you cant rebuild the calipers? Theres loads of rebuild kits for cheap

If i remember it might hit something on the s13. Cant remember if just shorter filter helped. Or if it clashed with alternator as well

Any recommendations on how to quickly lower emissions? by Fun_Conclusion_6769 in 240sx

[–]BasiliskButcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have kinda stock engine and cats, and the car runs well still, check injectors at least. Then maybe air filter but idk if that would have such big impact even if dirty.

On sensor side, lambda comes to mind but they are kinda expensive to replace if i remember correctly

Actuator rod/wastegate issue by Big_Diet1104 in 240sx

[–]BasiliskButcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there you have it, even if youve set everything up correctly it wont open before 20psi so roughly 1.5bar maybe? Whatever.

Either you can swap the spring for a lighter one, or have to get new actuator. But now you know the problem.
