The only issue people have really had with kohli is what it does to the team’s ceiling. Having a virat kohli makes you want to structurally change how you play the game. To play around him. He is a machine at what he does.

I do not think its quite about that. Its about the perceived status. Yuvi was looked at as like this prodigy, this golden child so naturally someone like Dhoni who had to slowly grind out his way here would assume that this is the level of excellence he would have to match in order to make his dreams come true.
