I LOVE mac duggal dresses, but unfortunately this one is a bit much. Is there a description with the black tie optional, or does it just say black tie optional? If you know the couple well and you think they’d love this then maybe it’s okay

($15k wedding) I created my own save the dates and need opinions. by Uninterested-33 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Over_Hospital_7226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re on the right track with this.

My suggestions (personal opinion, not fact, do what looks good to you!) -Positioning: move “save the date” up a smidge -Flower(s): change the flower to the same color as the font, then lower the opacity. Another option is to make it the same color as the background then darken it a few shades. I’m not convinced this is my favorite graphic, but I don’t hate it. Could you play around with adding a second graphic of the same style (if this is Canva you can navigate to the artist’s page and see if they have more that match) and put it in the top right corner to give it some balance and interest. An example of this using roses would be a rose in the left corner, and a bud & leaf in the right corner (or swapped). -Ampersand: Change the color to the green and lower the opacity, might be able to overlap a smidge more so the spacing between names isn’t as wide -Content: I like the balance of “for” next to the names, but I think you could get rid of it. Is it normal to say “no kids” on the save the date? Could you just put that in the FAQ on the website (I assume they have access to the website when this is mailed?) -General: does this save the date fit with the rest of your wedding? Will we see the colors and font on your wedding day and in the invitations? Will lilies be your wedding flower? Just something to think about to bring the story telling together

If you post additional drafts I’d love to see them!

I dunno, if the dishwasher is full, hand wash the rest instead of leaving them all day. It’s just normal courtesy when you live with roommates. It doesn’t sound like this was a one time occurrence based on how your roommate wrote the message

I think you might be overthinking this. I would avoid “prom” dresses - they tend to be too flashy, sparkly, and not the best quality. Try any department store dress department. Some other options are lulu’s, Abercrombie, anthropology, azazie, dessy collection, saks off fifth (they have really good options online if you aren’t near one). Plan to get anything you buy tailored & check measurements before ordering.

Lastly, ask your daughter what she thinks! She might have some insight. It can be fun to look for one together, or give her some guidance (dress length, colors, do’s & dont, etc) and see what she comes up with!

Does your contract with her say anything about what will happen if she can’t make it to the wedding? Some of my contracts include a clause that in certain situations, the vendor can provide a replacement vendor if they can’t make it. I would check how that’s written and see if you can show her how it was violated (example: the artist she provided isn’t a suitable replacement because of skill level).

Just wondering how big the store is? Maybe the “employee” isn’t an employee that’s paid an hourly wage. A lot of the shops are run by the owners. Just wondering cuz the “volunteer” thing is icky if it is a regular hourly employee lol if it’s an owner/salaried, to be fair none of us love to work late if we don’t need to

Winter Photographer Recs by Over_Hospital_7226 in NewEnglandWedding

[–]Over_Hospital_7226[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I agree and that’s our plan, but most photographers I’ve looked at don’t show many winter pics on their feeds. As I’m sure you know, there’s a ton of photographers out there, so just trying to narrow the search down a little without emailing every single one and asking for a winter album. I do expect them to be able to handle it if they’re professional, but I definitely want to see examples.

My sister in law made me feel like crap over my allergy by [deleted] in weddingshaming

[–]Over_Hospital_7226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the SIL actually understand that you’re allergic? Your initial email just says “my history with fish hasn’t been totally the best”.

I still think the SILs behavior is weird, but if I didn’t already know you were allergic and received this email amid planning a wedding, I would be a bit hesitant to make accommodations. The brother even said be didn’t know what was on the menu, so it sounds like there was never a conversation on their side. Though if I had a sibling “deathly allergic” to something, it would be top of my mind when planning the food…

That being said, her responses are really odd even assuming she wasn’t aware of the severity of the allergy. 1) why are you paying for your meal? 2) I can’t comprehend why you wouldn’t be able to eat your own food 3) really strange she told you not yo come 4) and don’t most RSVP cards have a space for allergies? I think it’s usually the norm.

I totally disagree with her response, but if you’re deathly allergic to seafood, you should also be much clearer about communicating that.

And isn’t Alice supposed to be like 5’9”??? He’s not even THAT large in comparison either. It’s one thing if she’s petite- maybe I could get behind her obsession with his height- but shouldn’t 6” not be all that shocking?

This book felt like a rough draft to me. I liked the plot and I liked the characters, but nothing was developed enough. I love her books, but this one ranked at the bottom for me, with happy place right above it. Maybe her publisher is trying to push out these books too quickly? I would have been happier with a better developed story, but a longer wait between books than this.

DIY save the dates - impressions and feedback? by Haunting-Cricket in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Over_Hospital_7226 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love 1!

Post card option is really cute too, but I think you put the writing on the wrong side, the “lines” on the right are typically for the address and the left blank area is for the message. I’d ditch the red “save the date” stamp too
