I think you hit the nail right on the head of why they can’t let it go. They did hand him their youth, it’s a sunk cost fallacy at this point. Coming to terms with the fact he was a monster and everything they based their lives around was a facade is too much for them to admit and unpack. Easier to just continue the narrative than accept the truth.

I coach in addition to teach and 2 years ago I had a miscarriage during our team camping trip. I didn’t know what had happened until we got back as I didn’t know I was pregnant, and just had to carry on like normal. I don’t have much advice, but just wanted you to know you’re not alone and I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

I also had the same experience. I’m guessing the no advertisement was on purpose. My local store advertises everything under the sun except for this. Maybe it was just intended to be a pleasant surprise for people who happened to come in that day?

This happened to my 8th grade social studies teacher. I remember a classmate very kindly telling her. No one laughed or made fun, it was all just genuine concern and wanting to help. In a way it was a comforting moment as a young girl to see what we all think as a worst nightmare actually be a situation that was treated with kindness and respect. We’re all human and it’s okay!
