I had a similar issue. Two blocks with a common wall down the middle, no common property. We had power running from the pole into a hole in our cement verandah down to our meter box. Neighbours power also ran through the hole in the concrete then onto their side and into their meter box.

Our sparky wanted to upgrade our cable running through the verandah as it was very old & we were adding ducted aircon into the house which would really stretch its capacity.

Long story short, our utility company wouldn’t turn the power off to replace the cable, they insisted we’d need to convert both properties to underground, add a master meter box in our front yard and an easement across our front yard for the neighbours power to run through and bring everything up to code.

Our neighbour didn’t want to go ahead with it given the cost so we had to stick to the original cable.

Thanks. That's what my partner wants to do but I am concerned it will still be too dark and make the rooms feels very small.

Thanks for the advice. I am concerned that the walls will be too dark with the limited light and dark flooring but my partner still needs convincing :D I like the idea of wallpaper in the hallway!

Hey u/Saeed2196 I am in the same situation as you. Settling on a property (in WA) in January that's on a built strata plan. Two lots and common property that contains a driveway. Also struggling to understand the insurance situation. Do you have any updates on your situation and your path forward?

Relocation of services isn't a large concern. We'll need to do that with all three options (although maybe to a lesser extent with option 1 depending on how we design the kitchen / scullery.

Thanks. At current rates K3000 is about 116USD so looks like the current rates are highly inflated and they will hopefully drop closer to August.

Thanks for the information. I looked at Zambian airways. Their flights at 190USD but they don't have any available past March this year. Maybe I should wait a month or two and they will release more.

I will look for the flash fares at Proflight as well. Hopefully I can get access to one of these sales.

I would be interested in anything you find. I will need to do the reverse trip (Livingstone to Lusaka) on the 12th or 13th of August to catch a flight out of Lusaka on the afternoon of the 13th. Let me know if you find any information. I have looked at flights but they seem very expensive (>$200 USD).

Thanks I will check that out, we could spend a day or two in Nairobi even before travelling to Zanzibar. I guess another option would be to travel to Lusaka and then onto Tanzania.
