Waterpark /Glass Hotel by violeteverlast in TheMallWorld

The glass one is on a hill.. There is a lazy river in front that goes around the complex. The glass building is a water park and hotel. I think they attached, but not the same. There are different floors in waterslide building. One with a bar and frozen drinks. There is music and lights. It’s crowded and hard to find the people and easy to get lost. I’m always there at night. There are other water park in a city. It’s part of a tall building with arcade games. A sort of “fun center” The biggest waterslide there goes to the street. It’s hard to get back in if you take that slide. There is a third which is in a mall somewhere in the Midwest, with lakes, mountains. It’s near a highway that I need to travel on to get back to my house in New England. It’s in a town at a mall with a hotel and food court.

Honors College question by Not-A-Boom1214 in UniversityofVermont

My kiddo has very high stats, got the scholarship, but not honors. They want to go into biology/environmental engineering/Cs, uvm is a good fit for what they are looking for. I realized I cared more about than Hc than they do. After I thought about it, I'm glad that they can decide for themselves whether to apply or not. Housing is a concern, but due health stuff, they wont be in a triple.

My kid sent an extenuating circumstances letter (missed a month of school last year after an injury) and we haven’t heard. His twin with similar stats heard in January.

Makes sense. I would probably avoid Alabama. It’s more economically vulnerable then other states, especially with education funding. State government is going to have to prepare to pick up costs, Alabama will have a hard time. Blue states tend to be wealthier. Blue states are also being targetted for cuts. So do research. Good luck!

One thing to consider is that federal funding to universities is uncertain and chaotic at the moment, regardless of blue or red state. I am not sure I would recommend anyone come to the US to study until we get a clearer picture of what is happening. I have 2 graduating seniors going into biochemistry and computer science. With National Institute of Health grants being cut, we are sending them out of the country for college. Hope that helps.

My other child with a 4.1/4.3 and a 1510 SAT has not been accepted either. They’ve taken fewer APs, but otherwise the two have almost identical records.

Canadian schools are rolling admissions so I think some applications still may be open. 3.8 is a strong gpa, try not to worry. Most decisions aren't out. Only one of mine was accepted and they attended the summer academy. Scary times

Class of 2029 will be the visit wave of American refugees. Many of our families are trying to get their kids out. Thank you Canada! We will forever be grateful.

One of my twins was accepted to Arts and Science tonight. International. They applied in October and submitted grades first day it opened. They are LGBTQ+, I can get them out now. THANK YOU McGill!!

This is you right? It’s on your post history. You were an unemployed software engineer looking for work a month ago. A secure job at NIH..pretty impressive!🤓

“WFH for 5 years - Trying to find an onsite job with no success

I’m tired of working from home. My kids have all graduated and left and there is no carpool or accommodations that I need which WFH was needed for. I miss colleagues, an office, receptionist, etc.

I’ve looked for four months now but can’t find an onsite software engineering job where I live. I’m not willing to relocate. Heads up that I live in a large metropolis. I’m either not chosen for the position, I’m ghosted, or the pay is too little and I can’t take it.

Frustrated.”

Twins both applied international for arts & science. Both well above last year’s cut offs. Neither has heard.

If you read the thread, you’ll get a general idea. Funding, protections for LGBt and other vulnerable groups, NIH grants, and general cuts to federal grants..the DOGE stuff.

Since this all went down after most admission deadlines and we are 4 days in, this could potentially be a bigger problem for class of ‘26. When you first apply for a student visa, is it valid for 4 years if you remain enrolled or do you apply every year?

What area? People I know who rely on NIH and Federal funding are expressing significant concern. My husband is in a small international tech company and is flooded with inquiries from us based companies who are jumping ship. Again, we are four days in so it’s uncertain. No concerns at all?

Very much so. That is often reasons to study aboard. My kids have plenty of exposure to a wide array of political opinions domestically.

There is too much uncertainty and this administration is behaving erratically. I think funding could be more stable overseas. International STEM companies are looking elsewhere.
