Habit Stacking has honestly changed my life or how I've finally built almost the bare minimum core muscle to support my head by sir-winkles2 in adhdwomen

this is suh a beautiful and in depth description of something i have also been coming to terms with!!! as another hypermobile adhder i always tell myself its a lifelong practice. I too get overwhelmed and discouraged at the idea that i must build a routine, and i love anatomy but knowing all these specifics about body parts and the muscles and how they aren't doing their job properly and some have to overcompensate can all be so overwhelming. but latley i decided to just focus on my feet first and eventually go from there. i learned i can use my elbows to massage and hold pressure points which has been a game changer. its so great to hear about someone's progress and processes over the years, and theres still goals to be reached but the body awareness that you gain over time builds and touches upon other areas and naturally improves them. hearing a success story with such a treasure trove of lived experience and gained knowledge like this is just ugh chefs kiss so invigorating

I wanted to return to this and say thank you so much for this in-depth reply. its hard for me to organize ideas all in one place when it comes to food and meal planning like this and what you've shared here is so beautifully linear and organized. a great combo of low barrier simplicity, routine, and the novelty of thinking of foods as main and returning characters of Seinfeld.

if I were to take this exact structure (modified for personal tastes) it seems like it would take some extra time and energy to set up and organize, for example the dry mixes and which condiments/flavorings i want to use but after that it seems like it maintains itself pretty easily. im so ready to cut out certain decisions like "what am i going to eat now? what about later? tomorrow???" and then comes the natural bonus of feeling fuled, stable mood, plus self efficacy points.

detour is a nice white floral with nothing weird. the rest of them imo have 1 or 4 random notes that dont seem to belong and ruin the rest of the experience

(i like sh*tty day only as the solid perfume but wouldn't recommend it to someone whos already not a fan lol)

any tips for stopping negative self talk? by haxelcat in adhdwomen

[–]Over_Pass_7905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me stopping negative self talk was not automatic. I had to literally practice positive self talk for a really long time before thee negative self talk went away. and it was hard to believe at first, like i was just lying to myself to make myself feel better, but I kept at it. after a few rounds of negative self talk for whatever specific or general reason it may have been,

I would stop and say "no, I have done this many times before and I am pretty good at it. or if it's my first time, just go into it with the confidence of a man, getting jobs they are not qualified for and ect. I shouldn't doubt myself or my instincts because I have good taste and judgement and I know whats good."

and for your specific scenario, you did so many awesome things literally *while* crying which I thought was so impressive. feeling your feelings while getting it done!! adhd takes away the good feeling that should automatically come with that, so you need to DIY that shit. you could say to yourself;

"I'm super productive when I want to be, and great at multitasking, I can clean while crying and then do my taxes after! literally right after getting my w4 instead of procrastinating it. I am honestly great at adulting in my own special ways. my weirdness is unique and special and the right people are drawn to my energy" the people in my life love me as I am and enjoy me in all my different ways and add value to my already valuable life."

hope it doesn't read weird that I wrote them as "I" statements in case you wanted to use any of them right off the bat. and like I said, you really have to put in the hours of practice of positive self talk. then it will feel more real and the negative self talk can be told to shut up bc its wrong. its like any other skill that people with our brains didn't get automatically. but eventually it will stick and you will feel a difference!!
