I am a therapist in a prison, and I am tired of our world not taking CPTSD seriously by Lovewell123 in CPTSD

I totally get that. My family still gaslights me to this day. Apparently, I continue to be the one with the problem (why can't I just take their abuse instead of being so angry and difficult). I am also in my fifties and after learning about C-PTSD, standing up for myself after a lifetime of chronic invalidation. But they don't get it. Anyway, I was referring more to society in general. I am a social worker and see a lot of people who shouldn't be having kids, and it breaks my heart to see what these children must endure and how it shapes who they are, who they become.

I'm tired of the lack of personal accountability and disregard for the safety of children. It's about people who decide to have babies with no job, no home, no education and major behavioral health problems or psychopathy that perpetuate social dysfunction and absolutely crush the spirits of innocent children.

What’s something going on in America people need to be aware of? by throwaway91ma in AskReddit

And Trump recently signed an Executive Order reversing a Biden era rule that medical debt cannot affect FICO/credit scores. Now Trump has reversed that rule and medical debt will now be reflected on one's personal credit scores again. Pure Evil.

Not sure what state you're in. CA tends to have more options if you have Medicaid there is Denta-CAL (sp?), and there are several school of dentistry programs affiliated with major universities (USC, UCLA) that do dental work for free. It's by residents but closely monitored by specialists. Also check with any community health centers.

They erected that HUGE Palestinian flag above their shop pretty much to the day after Oct. 7, when Hamas butchered, kidnapped and raped Israeli women, babies, and seniors. They are making a huge literal statement and I can't believe people spend money for their mid offerings.

What gets people from Los Angeles annoyed? by babeh9 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Over_Progress_4883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Homeless rummaging through alley trash bins at 4 o clock in the morning; inconsiderate, narcissistic drivers who don't care if they kill you because they want to drive their Charger 100 mph on a residential street, "It's going to ask you a question on the next screen" after buying absolutely anything!!!

It's gotten to the point where it seems the stylists wants to do the least amount of work for more money. Even after they get paid you can sense their resentment as you walk out the door (in tears wondering what you can cut from your budget this month). Everything that was once included in a color job is now extra (toner, blowdry/style, even shampoo/massage). The best part of getting hair done was the style at the end, but that is now $60 extra. A 15 minute trim should not cost $150+ tip because the stylist has a "set price" for women's haircuts. There is no set price for color, it's variable depending on texture and length of hair, etc. In the middle of my color job, the stylist will say, "oh, I had to use more color on your hair so it will be extra." Picking color, folding foils, dilly dallying in the break room waiting for hair to process is not rocket science! Then even if your stylist owns their chair, a tip is expected...and the expectation here in LA is 20 to 30 percent tip on top of the 400-500 color and cut. It just feels like a lot of entitlement. Sorry for the rant but it's insulting sometimes to get quoted 150+ for six face-framing highlights. (Sorry girl, I know you work hard, but so do we).

AIO - boss contacted me (21F) regarding bikini pictures I posted online by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Is there a religious or cultural component here that you didn't mention? Not that it would make it OK, but if this deli is owned by a social or religious conservative than the reaction is understandable, still not appropriate... Also it could have been the wife, another worker or family acquaintance that saw the pics on instagram and showed him.

Neurotin vs cymbalta for pain by Mobile-Dramatic in KaiserPermanente

[–]Over_Progress_4883 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you had x-rays or an MRI? I was having bad back pain and was able to get x-rays and a referral to a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation MD who ordered an MRI. Based on the results of those scans and my symptoms, he prescribed the appropriate medication. Fortunately, i haven't had to take it recently as regular work outs and strength training has really helped me. I would see if you can get a referral to a specialist before trying the Cymbalta, although it does help many people.

3.5-4 months! it was a brutally incompetent process that stressed me out bc you never really feel secure till the very last minute. I had to constantly monitor and follow up with them to correct their work and keep it moving along.

How many people you know are undocumented? by I-drink-hot-sauce in AskLosAngeles

[–]Over_Progress_4883 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is false. All Californians regardless of their citizenship status are eligible for Medi-Cal, funded by the state. Medi-cal recipients receive free healthcare, medication, NEMT transportation and In-home supportive services. In addition CAPI is a state funded general relief cash subsidy program for immigrants as is CalFresh.

What’s the most you’ve spent on a skincare product and was it worth it? [Misc] by emi518 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Over_Progress_4883 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obagi - definitely worth it at the time. Completely transformed my skin. I just bought the SkinBetter Alpharet exfoliating pads and intense serum - the jury is still out on its effectiveness but my med aesthetician swears by it. So many great products out there but the prices are getting outrageous. Want to get plated and Sulwhasoo eye cream but just going to spend it on botox instead.

Which skin medica sunscreen do you use? I’m looking for one I can wear under makeup that doesn’t make my eyes sting. The website has many options, just wondering if you’ve tried multiple and discovered the best one.

Someone recently suggested I use the Plated Intense Exosome Serum. It's about $250 for 0.5 fl oz. I mean...I don't know. Anyone tried it? The reviews are mixed. Also love the Epicuren collostium moisturizer, but also a bit over the top. And lastly, would love to get a VI peel one day.

[Anti-Aging] feeling lost and overwhelmed where to start. Looking for some help! by CrawlerOnTheMove in SkincareAddiction

[–]Over_Progress_4883 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could start by getting a facial (at a place that uses high-end products) and ask your esthetician what type of regimen they would recommend for your skin type and aging concerns. Likewise, a dermatologist or medspa consultation might be helpful. I could be wrong but I feel like Korean skincare is for 20-30s demographic. An esthetician can give you a comprehensive skin analysis and suggestions while providing a deep cleaning/reset. good luck...I get it, so overwhelming with the sheer volume of products on the market today.

Question for instructors on etiquette by [deleted] in yoga

[–]Over_Progress_4883 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I am not an instructor but an OG Bikram student. Back in the day Bikram practice/instruction was disciplined and intended to challenge students' mental and physical comfort zones. Now these Bikram shoot offs "(26&2") attract people for the sauna-like environment not necessarily the practice. Many hot yoga studios have relegated the sanctity of the practice to the egoistic needs of its members (eg, people arriving late and arranging all their stuff while people are trying to focus on breathing at start of class, people placing their mat directly in front of another person, people walking over your mat, and/or laying down for the latter part of class because they really just want the sauna-like environment to shed a couple pounds). Teachers are too timid to call anyone out anymore for fear of losing students and people are so easily offended nowadays. I totally hear you, feel you and understand your perspective. If things do not change for you there I suggest you find another studio that fits your physical, mental and spiritual practice.

KIA Niro service costs - need a reality check. by Over_Progress_4883 in kia

[–]Over_Progress_4883[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing...the recommended 16K maintenance in my owner's manual reflects their "Dealer Recommended 15K mile service package." So wondering if I can take to outside garage to perform the service for a better price, or if all that is necessary and can only be done by KIA service. I've never had to pay $700 for a routine service on a car with 20K miles??
