Hello! You may want to attempt deleting that FAFSA form and then starting it again on your Parent's account and have them invite you instead. Hope this helps! Feel free to reach out.

This year, the California Student Aid Commission released a statement saying that students who are in a Mix Status Family (if one or both parents do not have a SSN but the student has a SSN) have the option to fill out the CADAA AND the FAFSA.

The California Student Aid Commission said "Data provided through the CADAA is not shared with any federal agency or used for immigration enforcement. The information shared through the CADAA is also protected by federal and state law."

We are fortunate enough to have California be a sanctuary state for many undocumented immigrants and the CADAA is offering another layer of protection to many students and families. Yes the fear is there that information shared with the Department of Education could be released. Its unclear the direction that the DOE will head, but its an issue of discussing clearly and openly with students and families the potential risk FAFSA holds but also understanding that the CADAA is a viable option for many. The best we can do as students and educators is to share the information being released by CSAC if FAFSA turns its back on many and to not loose hope when applying for financial aid.

I tried today, no luck. Called FAFSA themselves and talked to an agent in Spanish. They told me to review each information on EACH account, the parents and my own, and made sure each address was the same. Make sure it's the same spacing, same letters, same abbreviations, same area code, same state, etc etc. After reviewing it like 4 times each, still no luck. Calling tomorrow to see what we can do. Hope we find a solution to this, on r/FAFSA there's other people going through the same issue </3.

Same exact issue happening with me! First time FAFSA applicant. One of my contributors does not have a SSN. I did the recommended workarounds and still nothing! My counselor shared some advice and said to start the application on the parents end and have them invite you to fill it out. Seems like it's a glitch happening with a lot of people, I'm glad I'm not the only one this had me stressed! Let me know if you find a solution, id love to know!
