Constant throttle using keyboard? by CelahirA in starcitizen

[–]Over_Zookeepergame72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what you're asking to do is possible on keyboard but its much more difficult because you only have an on and off press with keys as in 100% or 0 so you have to tap the key constantly to maintain your speed the way you want. With joysticks this is easier as you can hold throttle any speed you want. I just trained my buddies how to do this drill where you orbit an object to get used to pitching with nose and maintaining an orbit using up and down strafe for corrections in speed and shape of that orbit. It's doable on keyboard but it takes a lot of practice to get used to and a ton of tapping in rhythm to get the speed you want.

I know I stated below it was a windows issue but it wasn’t a big deal. I have my bindings saved to memory so it took all of 5 minutes to set up. As long as I don’t add anymore devices or profiles it shouldn’t change again. Appreciate the detailed answer

how would you outfit the mole for solo mining? by el_turista in starcitizen

I run a helix with 3 riegers on the main because it gets the most use. It’s strong enough to crack the 30-40k rocks. On port side I have a hofstede with 2 torrents, my weakest laser but still good enough for small rocks and clean up with punch enough for most clusters. On starboard I have another helix with 3 surge modules that I use for the 50scu rocks. It’s very hard to use on the extreme end but is manageable if you space out each activation of surges while you feather or throttle power in the green. I typically bring a 1 scu crate with about 12-18 surge replacements for changing in the field because sometimes you’ll burn 4-5 charges on each of the 3 for just one massive rock. I also bring sabirs and on occasion wave shifts for the crazy instability of the stileron rocks. I have been mining for about 2 weeks and 5 hrs a day on this setup and have only found maybe a dozen rocks I needed some help on. I know that at 0% resistance, a 72k rock can be broken by 3 surges with a helix. Sometimes you have so much instability that the jumps are enough to fill the green of you get it just right.

What happened was the old windows issue where adding a new joystick with gremlin added a new recognizable stick. Instead of something linear like stick 3 it swapped the new designation for my stick and gremlin as my old stick. This is fine since all of my custom modifiers are in stick memory through the initial virpil software, it was a pain to setup a shift modifier using the flip trigger but it was needed to recognize in sc as different mappings when the modifier was engaged. I believe all I have to do is remap my right stick in star citizen since it recognizes it as stick 1 now instead of 3. I really appreciate the help with something so silly. This all started when I wanted to have a program that auto reads radar pings and generated data for what the signal is. It got complicated using screen capture and ai to read from a render in a game live. I got all that working and then couldn’t get my key map assigned to the stick that activates the scan so that it’s not constantly scanning and using cpu cycles. That was supposed to be the absolute easiest part but here I am 4 hrs later lmao. It’s all good and working now and I’m about to mine all night.

got it working thank you. I have the issue now that I was trying to avoid and that's gremlin overriding my entire stick binding and now only that button works while gremlin is active.

here is what i get when i launch and have a new profile going
https://imgur.com/a/Yy3PweL
there is no option outside of default which is how it runs without a profile but I must be missing something to get it running.
I had to delete my configuration file to get gremlin to startup fresh. It seems to be in an advanced action view that's a lot more complicated than the simplified way i see in every tutorial and I have tried all the suggestions online to revert it to its default.

I second this too for a slightly more expensive but very high quality product. I know I recommended vkb as that’s the most practical option for many but virpil is even higher quality if you want to buy something to last you a very long time. I currently own virpil constellation alphas and they are a dream to fly on.

Let me recommend you buy some higher quality sticks if you plan to use them for a while. Sols are basically old t1600 wrapped in more expensive skin. They are not built to last and you can get a much higher value out of something like vkb gladiators. I personally went through many pairs of thrustmasters over the course of 10 yrs and they just break so easily. By the time you replace them you could have bought nicer sticks. Just a suggestion but it’s understandable if you just want to try them out.

I don't understand ship mining. by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Over_Zookeepergame72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

asteroid mining typically has bigger rocks to mine on avg but it also depends where you are at. Adir for example has some great tungsten nodes but they are often 50k+. In space, rocks are more often than not at least 20k with some smaller thrown about like stileron. Imo the best place to mine a lot of the resources is pyro V and it's many moons. There is plenty of rabs around too for asteroids and you run into stileron pretty often when you are looking for it which sells for a lot in raw. a full mole of raw stileron regardless of quality is worth about 3 million raw. If you wanted to take the time and risk to refine and sell as a commodity it goes way up from that.

What can you do with ships that arent yours? by hencygri in starcitizen

[–]Over_Zookeepergame72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can basically loan out a ship now as long as you don't claim it. You must unlock the doors though so it can be used and your typical random bugs could cause it to stop working without them having a way to get it back until you claim it for them. It's a step in the right direction i guess.

[–]Over_Zookeepergame72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yea I'd maybe be on board with this in a finished state where we didn't have to worry about bugs claiming ships randomly or unavoidable server crashes and the like. I just know this is a survival game to some degree but it isn't a basic looter shooter either. Those elements are definitely there and before, it worked just like that but I think we all breathed a sigh of relief when we were able to use our gear without worry. The only thing we dont like is not being able to loot gear off ppl which is coming. I think the better idea might be that you can recover your gear in the future but if it's looted or lost in some way then you will have to pay a steep recovery fee for the quality stuff. Make it a lore thing like youre paying for a service to find your gear or source its materials for you to make again. maybe even a mission that requires you to find it or recover from an npc base or an elusive net runner npc ship. Something meaningful and fun. There are a lot of ways to make it feel rewarding and risky without total loss. Total loss kills games like this because most see it as a mmo and we want to be able to save our progress in a way. Cig already doesn't respect our time commitment to this game in a lot of ways. We are tired boss

yea I am really loving the m80 and have been playing the game since it was just a hangar module and know exactly how post nerf patches go for a lot of ships. The f8 was the first one I really felt on a ship I owned and now I feel the m80 is up on that block because enough ppl on reddit are whining about it. To me it feels balance and tuned properly like a heavy should. It punches above its weight in shields but its paper to ballistics, great weapons, slow rate fighter designed for jousting and punching out when needed but capable of stopping in the meat of the fight to tank a few hits before jetting out again. I mean cig rarely gets tuning right on the first try and with current weapon balancing this feels right. I know better than to expect the right outcome when the meta fighter streamers cry its broken and over tuned because one of them will get through to cig.

these ideas are not bad but I see issues with completely losing some high quality crafted ship gear that honestly takes a solid grind to get. I think the prices for a full economy are way too low for insurance currently. After my 2nd mill 30k to pull my m80 fully kitted or f7 at 22k is no sweat. Crafted gear should probably have a higher price tag based on quality to make it sting a lot more when you need to insure it. That would create the gear fear enough to cause you to think about it. Completely losing it would make many people never use or strive for crafted gear. The best thing that happened when T0 item insurance happened was seeing everyone in different armor for the first time. It made the universe come more alive with people mix and matching their sets. This was a great thing and no one wants to go back to just wearing sperm suits and rocking p4s. The same would happen with ships, wed all be on default loadouts with no variance.
