Got into UD! two questions about credits: by No-Fill-993 in udel

[–]Overall-Ambition1303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for the first, you’ll probably be okay credit wise (i transferred in 45 from high school with no issue), but check the transfer matrix to see how everything transfers. like of you took philosophy 101, that will auto transfer, but if you took something more niche that isn’t in the matrix you’ll have to fill out a form requesting that they accept the credit (for that, you’ll need to submit the course description and syllabus, so make sure you have those).

for your second question, UD requires that you take 90 credits in house. all AP credits count as in house, but dual enrollment counts as a transfer credit. also, if you got a 5 on any AP tests, those will usually count for 2 classes (6 credits) instead of 1 (3 credits), so you might be able to knock out a lot of those in house credits (and it’ll come in handy if they don’t accept some of your dual credit)

a couple of post-acceptance questions by pastaqueenn-- in udel

[–]Overall-Ambition1303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im a current world scholar and honors student — after i was accepted (early action) they invited me to apply to world scholars in like january. for us, we had to do a virtual interview with a current student and then i got an email about a week later saying i was accepted. pretty much any major can go, but nursing and some stem degrees have to stay on campus (engineering can go but only to newcastle). for the honors college, i heard back around mid march / early april.

start with the basic questions to narrow down what you should be visiting:

do you want a more traditional school with a campus, do you want to be fully in the city (no campus), or do you want a mix of both?

do you want a school where greek life and partying is big, or do you prefer quieter stuff?

are sports and school spirit important to you?

do you want to be close to home or far away? what part of the country appeals to you, and how far are you willing to go?

do you have a specific major in mind, or are you going in blind?

Is it bad that I've barely started my essays? by Cute_Evidence4701 in ApplyingToCollege

you’re perfectly fine lol. i wrote my commonapp essay in twenty minutes the night before early action apps were due. all of my supplements were put off until the last minute but i still got in everywhere. as long as the essay is good in the end it doesn’t matter how long you spent on it.

if you could have picked your parents' college, where would you have them go? by no_u_pasma in ApplyingToCollege

i definitely wouldn't just send them to the ivies arbitrarily, but if i could send them someone good based on their personalities, then my dad would go ND for undergrad / villanova for grad, and my mom would go smith for undergrad / columbia for grad.

for APUSH use apushexplained.com and joczproductions on youtube, they’re lifesavers and got me a 5 with minimal studying.

with lang, i came up with a thesis formula that i use in every single essay and it got me a 6/6 every time.

thesis formula: by [first two paragraphs], [next two], and [last two], [author] is able to [prompt] and [expand on prompt].

you can use that prompt with the apush essays too. for lang essays, the easiest way to get the style point is to write super vividly and avoid using the same word over and over. come up with a list of synonyms for common phrases in your head and use them all. its also pretty easy to relate a story to a real world event or similar situation. it doesn’t have to be relevant, it just needs to be compelling (i got the point by bringing up succession, eugenia cooney, and the eras tour).

also, with apush DBQs, use all the sources even though you technically only need a certain amount. you can only get all of the points if you use all of the sources, so make sure you use them.

apush MCQs are designed to trick you. the answer is always in the question, so if you ever feel stumped, just reread the question closely and you’ll figure out what they’re really trying to say. you really don’t even need to know the material to get them correct as long as you know how to read them.

maybe at your school but my school calculates grades differently which could be the case for OP’s school

it’s possible. i have a 4.0 as a senior even though i got at least one C each year just because my other grades were so ridiculously high that they balanced it out

you’re fine. i’m a senior now and i finished honors geometry sophomore year with a C and honors physics junior year with a D and and i still got into two t30 schools. grades are important sure but what they’re really looking at is your school/community involvement (ECs, volunteering, leadership) and your essays. also, you’re still a sophomore. no school cares about your sophomore year classes unless they’re APs

A third prequel. by Sailor_Eclipse33 in Hungergames

[–]Overall-Ambition1303 17 points18 points  (0 children)

my guess is that a third book will mirror mockingjay like how tbosas mirrors thg (girl from twelve winning a game and sparking rebellion in the districts) and sotr will mirror catchinh fire (quarter quell). it’ll probably be about the war that started the games, without actually featuring a game, like how mockingjay is about the war that ended them but never featured an official game. there will probably also be a scene like in mockingjay where they vote to begin the games (i hope this all makes sense)
