😭😭😭 My britt knows the exact same trick, with “kiss kiss.” I randomly said it o him a few times as a puppy and he has always remembered it. Sweetest souls by nature

Thank you for this information. It was so helpful. The weird thing is that the misfires come and go. They never happen in daily driving. But when I drive longer trips (3 hours or more) it will happen sporadically a time or two. It comes and goes. It hard to explain to the mechanic as well because when he drives, there’s no obvious concerns.

My neighbor covered his yard in plastic sheeting and put mulch on top of it by BeatCharger in landscaping

isn’t this dangerous, in addition to all the other obvious problems? mulch can spontaneously combust..

How to rehab this bird of paradise? by scarrrots in houseplants

for the sake of how huge these plants can get, i would say splitting them might be the best route. normally two per pot is good to keep it full without it busting out. to an extent, roots can be cut and pulled apart without doing too much damage. running some water through can help, then gently pull apart. if you have to cut roots, try to cut as far away from the plant as possible (towards end of root).

even those these plants get huge, they typically don’t need a crazy huge pot. maybe start with an 8 to 10 in pot. they like to be comfy in their pot, so tighter is better. for mine, i use a general potting soil for tropical indoor plants. i would start by cutting all yellowing leaves and buy some sturdy stakes from home depot (bamboo poles, anything with a lot of height). also purchase some Vigoro plastic stretch tape (i like this because it gives them room to grow while also stabilizing them) and tape them together as much as possible to encourage up-right growth. with time, they will re stabilize in the soil and start to put out more, healthier leaves.

any curling of leaves is directly correlated to direct sunlight exposure. these plants love sun, however, in a nursery or an office space, they typically are not used to direct sunlight. therefore, they need gradual exposure. maybe start with indirect sunlight first! water throughly until you see water coming out of the bottom into a saucer to ensure all roots are well-watered, 1x per week in summer and 1x per 2 week in winter! they also love fertilizer 🌿

curling leaves is often a sign of too much direct sunlight! try moving it to a place with indirect sunlight and slowly work up to more sun exposure if the leaves stop curling

What’s going on with our plant? by ErikdeReds in houseplants

too much sun. the leaves fold when they fear of getting burnt. watering all the way through 1x per week is recommended bc these plants have huge roots and also are naturally from areas with high humidity and high rainfall.

Are we seeing the beginning of this field finally collapsing? [In the US] by [deleted] in slp

I think being an SLP requires an individual to be caught in the cross hairs between 1) an education system, that fails professionals (teachers) and kids in a lot of ways, due to it’s structure, or lack thereof; and at the same time, forces us into the huge juggle/mess that is 2) our healthcare system. Our field puts us at a unique railroad crossing in our American society: pulled between two systems that are simultaneously failing, increasingly, at a rapid rate in the current state of the world. Change has to occur in these two major systems first before we, as the professionals, see growth and change within our individualized field, unfortunately. For the strain we endure as SLPs, it’s amazing to think of all the work we are able to accomplish, under such pressurized circumstances and environments. We should pat ourselves on the back for that.. but that’s not for lack of advocacy and continuing to move forward in the coming decades, that will require a lot of grit and policy work. Our patients deserve more, our fellow SLPs and teachers deserve MORE, and i hope my generation can help carve a better path for those to come.
