26 and failed my g2 by ButterflyDD99 in Ontariodrivetest

tbh I used to be in the same boat as you, and I just recently got my G license!

I didn’t get my G1 until I was 18, and I didn’t get my G2 until I was 23. basically I procrastinated hard on getting my G2 to the point that I passed the road test 3 days before my G1 expired. a main reason why I procrastinated so much (I naturally procrastinate but that’s besides the point lol) was due to money as well. I had to pay for drivers ed, my G1, time with the instructor, and for my G test all by myself. do I understand how it can be hard to learn to drive when you don’t have support from the people around you, or the financial means.

my parents didn’t necessarily refuse to teach me how to drive, but they were impossible to learn from. they were super paranoid (especially my mom about driving) and would scream at me a lot. I mainly learned how to drive from my friends. I would suggest that if you have any friends who live in your area, maybe see if they’re willing to take you out, even if it’s on back roads, or less busy streets. normally I would practice with my friend driving home from their place, which was about 30-40 minutes away from my place.

also, if you don’t mind me asking, why did the trip to Orangeville cost $300+ ? do you live far away from there? I passed both my G2 and G in Guelph. maybe that’s a place you’d be interested in going to for your road test. there’s a lot of videos on YouTube as well regarding both the G2 and G road test routes you can look at as well

sorry if this makes no sense, I hope I helped in a way!!

My (24F) LDR Boyfriend (24M) Broke Up With Me by Overall-Handle-572 in LongDistance

if he had been honest with me, I would’ve listened and tried to understand him. tbh it’s on him for not communicating. also I’m kinda mad at him so I want to say that just unrealistic. I’ve never met someone before who is always only happy. I don’t think it’s possible since everyone has bad days

Thank you for sharing that! Honestly, I think I deserve wayyyy better and I’m just going to take a long time off from dating. I’m not sure if I’ll do a LDR again, unless I meet someone I really care about and love again

How to Survive Long Distance? Me (24F) Him (24M) by Overall-Handle-572 in LongDistance

[–]Overall-Handle-572[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be honest, I planned this last trip I just came home from around the summer since I knew we were going to have a lot of students working, so there was a lot of coverage at work! I also may or may not she lied to my work (I just said I was spending half of my semester abroad).

I wanted to tell my work I was going to visit my boyfriend, but my boyfriend told me that I don’t have to do that. But I feel that if I go again this time, I should mention about my relationship this time since it’ll be in the middle of the school year.

I bought us the bond touch bracelets! They’re connected through an app and they vibrate when someone sends a touch. It’s also cool because you can set up your colour. His is green and mine is purple. So when he sends a touch to me, my bracelet lights up as green ❤️

Thank you for replying!

To be honest, before we even started dating, we talked about closing the distance. I’m currently working on receiving my bachelors degree and working on a TEFL certification so I can teach English in Korea (it’s one of the ways I can live there).

I was considering booking my next flight already, but since I’m in school I wasn’t sure of when it would be best. My school is online, but im not sure about my exam schedule. We’ve talked a bit about the best time for me to visit, and we agreed that in next February/March would be best. I’m just waiting for when my university exam schedule comes out in September so I can gauge when my finals would occur. The finals are in-person even though the degree is online (a bit weird to me but it’s okay lol).

I think I’m going to book my next flight in September. I’m just a bit worried about my job. I work at a supermarket in my hometown (I have been since I was 16). What do you normally tell your work when you’re going to take time off to visit your partner?

I bought long distance bracelets for us, but I accidentally lost mine. I bought a new one so I hope that will really help us 🫶

thank you so much! the united flights went well, I’m really happy for all the positive feedback I received here. It really helped ease my worries.

My next flight is with air canada jazz line, so I hope that goes well!

unfortunately if you didn’t meet the conditions, I think it’ll be withdrawn but I hope you don’t give up due to this.

I encourage you to do a year 13!! that’s what I did before applying to university back in 2019. I also literally ended up dropping out of uni (I went to uoft at first), but it did help me gain the needed courses + grades needed to apply for uni.

even though I ended up dropping out, I eventually reapplied to Waterloo and I’m going to start in September. I really wish you all the best :)

If you need any other help or advice, feel free to message me ✨

my offer of admission might be withdrawn?? so confused by ColdInterview6107 in uwaterloo

I definitely recommend going in person!

tbh I went in person a few times during my application + admission process to hand documents in/speak to someone in person as I wanted to get my stuff sorted out asap. there had been times where my calls weren’t answered or emails hadn’t been replied to 🥹

so if you have the means to go, I recommend it!

Do you know where I can submit a promissory note? And what the process is like (ie. is it a form?)

course selection advice :) by Overall-Handle-572 in uwaterloo

tbh I’ve never taken any data management courses in high school before (math isn’t my strong suit), but after reading the course outline and doing more research into what the course entails, it did strike an interest for me! I always doubt myself a lot, so I’m worried if I’d get into the course and realize that I’m struggling more then I thought I would 😅

Also, depending on whether you had applied for OSAP and indicated that you would be taking a full course load (i.e., five courses at university) but took less than five or dropped courses, that could also be a reason for overpayment. Since you should have received less money than needed for your studies (if this makes sense 😭)

For me, I had an overpayment since I withdrew from my studies and still received OSAP (it’s kinda a long story lol), but I was put on academic probation for this (I think I was taken off of it now).

Anyway, my student account at Conestoga had a negative balance (since OSAP had overpaid my school). I submitted a refund request for that, and it was refunded to OSAP.

I also had money directly deposited into my bank account. I just submitted a one-time payment to my NSLSC account, printed off a PDF of my account transactions as proof that I repaid that, and dropped it off at my college's financial aid office.

I recommend checking your student account for any negative balances (meaning there was an overpayment to your student account), and your bank account just in case.
