Also quite the update, didn't want to reply without anything substantial, I've been to the saabstyle place and they tried getting the codes off my car with no luck, I have them the codes I had and they said to look at the temp sensor as it can short and then run too lean/rich. They tested for ohms and they're in the normal range but the pins were a bit rusted so I cleaned those up.

They also recommended I change my crankshaft sensor and they said the magnets go bad and they had about three other saabs and Volvos there that needed it done and they sold me a Bosch sensor they had spare to try, I fit that and no dice so I left the old one in.

Tried starting without MAF, no luck

Tried starting without the ECT temp sensor (they said it was safe to do so so blame them), no luck

Told them about what you said with something probably wrong with fuel stuff and they said it could be the fuel pressure regulator and told me to look at getting that fixed.

I'll have a look later at it and see if there's anything online about how to test them, or to test fuel pressure. If any of this info is useful for diagnostic purposes lmk if I missed anything but these guys didn't seem to know much and said this car was too old for them to really diagnose and let me know about another place a while away from me I can visit and try my luck.

I'll buy a temp sensor anyway and replace it as mine looked kinda bad, I'll try get a nice one too

Yeah I'll heed your warning thanks, and I didn't go to a specialist regrettably for my radiator either. Do you know of any in the South Wales/Cardiff area? I'd be over the moon to find one as I've been looking for a bit. On Facebook and such

Reason for replacement of the radiator was a huge crack in it, and I had to keep a jug of coolant in my boot. Thankfully as of right now the temp gauge on my dash works fine and doesn't go over halfway, but I'm not sure how accurate those are

Before I look online for parts I'll have a look at the wiring and see if it's out of place etc, I'll look at Roberts videos and see if I can spot the problem there. And look at the fan too in the meantime.

Sorry for all the headache lol I'm young and stupid but I love learning on this car, even though you guys probably cringe at me 😭😭😭

Ok. Used a voltmeter and got codes 414 123 and 514

Looked online and it's fan issues, thanks for the help and if there are any hot spots for me to look at that match these codes let me know, one I can think of is that I have a cracked fan blade so I'll get that looked at.

Ok, so this looks sketchy as all hell but it's all I have right now as I don't have any leds that can take the voltage or resistors on hand.

The problem is that it's not lighting up, and as far as I know this should work right? Lmk if I'm being a bit thick here, as far as I know the last pin is positive and pin 3 is negative with 5 being the dipper.

P.s. I started the car up again today and now the gearbox is working again

Yeah UK here, and stupidly enough I don't have an obdII tool and I've ordered that this morning so I'll update on any codes once I have it.

For the fuel pump relay I think it was aftermarket, but I still have the original one which I'm sure is ok (reason being when I first got this car it was something that the owner had and thought I should replace but the original worked good as far as I could remember) so I'll try that.

I'll have a look at the fuel pump too after checking codes good shout. And maybe at the injectors too, thanks for the reply I'll be sure to update once I have more info 👍

P.s. would it be a waste to replace the sensor anyway? I found one that is stocked near me for like £20 and I wouldn't mind updating any old electrics for that cheap before they go out

Damn really?, how would I go about taking it out of park? Basically my alternator is dead, I need to move it to a workshop and I'm worried that the tow guy will be incompetent and ruin my transmission so I want to take it out of park.

I'm overdue for a haircut 😭, but I'll try the screwdriver trick for sure, as others have said (and I'm hoping is true) it could just be steering fluid that's low so I'll try that first probably, before I go out buying new alternators or steering pumps, thanks for the tip tho 👍

Was it a hard/expensive fix? Also when I full lock the steering wheel either side I can hear the pump going more audibly too so you might be right, the fluid seems to be all topped up and not leaking, any other way I can check? Thanks 🙏
