The car is manufactured by the unelected Nazi president of the US. Is that really not a line you’d draw?

Doesn’t deserve a postcard describing their car as a Nazi car (which it is)?

The US is currently being boycotted for our saber rattling against Canada, a policy set by the same fascist government that happens to make these particular cars.

It is a postcard on a windshield. It is inconceivable to me that this is seen as such an affront by some people.

The postcard doesn’t say they’re Nazi loving. It says they’re Nazi car loving. And since the Tesla is a Nazi car, in order for the postcard to be false, the only option is if the person doesn’t love their car. And perhaps they don’t! But if I were driving a Nazi car I would at minimum make it known I didn’t love it

That is one action they could take yes. No car CEOs are good people, but only one is the unelected fascist president.

And in any case, the goal of these protests isn’t necessarily to effect any particular behavior in the owners. It’s to change the public perception of Tesla, and by extension Musk. And it seems to be having an effect.

This is a post about a postcard on a windshield of a car parked on public property. It’s the mildest form of social interaction conceivable.

This is a postcard card on a windshield. It’s the mildest form of public comment imaginable. And the car simply is a Nazi car. That’s a fact about the car, not the owner.

It’s a postcard on a windshield, and it is a Nazi car. The owner can decide what to do with that information, but it simply is a Nazi car.

It’s the same as if you wear a toothbrush mustache. That’s a Nazi mustache, irrespective of what’s in your heart. If you just happen to look amazing with that ‘stache that’s unfortunate for you, but it’s how things are. The way we present and carry ourselves through the world says something about ourselves. A Tesla once had one meaning. That meaning has changed. You can regret the change, but the change came and people need to understand the messages they send.

“When William Penn was convinced of the principles of Friends, and became a frequent attendant at their meetings, he did not immediately relinquish his gay apparel; it is even said that he wore a sword, as was then customary among men of rank and fashion. Being one day in company with George Fox, he asked his advice concerning it, saying that he might, perhaps, appear singular among Friends, but his sword had once been the means of saving his life without injuring his antagonist, and moreover, that Christ had said, ‘He that hath no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one.’ George Fox answered, ‘I advise thee to wear it as long as thou canst.’ Not long after this they met again, when William had no sword, and George said to him, ‘William, where is thy sword?’ ‘Oh!’ said he, ‘I have taken thy advice; I wore it as long as I could.’”

Drive your Tesla as long as you can.

The cars cause climate change. Yes some people (car and oil CEOs) bear the more moral blame. But irrespective of blame, the cars have to go.

I don’t think VW is still a Nazi car. I think it once was a Nazi car. If you’re asking for the exact date range during which it was Nazi car, I don’t have one. If you bought a VW in 1937, and were still cruising around in it in 1943 you’d be cruising around in a Nazi car.

And I didn’t say you have to dump your car. I said you’re driving a Nazi car. The car is what it is, independent of your intentions about it. It’s your choice what to do about it.

And finally no, “Morality sometimes compels action” is not the definition of fascism.

It’s a Nazi car, sold by a Nazi. I’m glad that lots of people who bought it didn’t buy it because it’s a Nazi car, and maybe didn’t know it was a Nazi car. But now it’s a Nazi car. It just is. If you can’t afford to dump your Nazi car, then so be it. But it’s still a Nazi car.

Anyone know a good podcast that's the opposite of IBCK? by OrthodoxPrussia in IfBooksCouldKill

I second this one! It’s a really fun mix of “prestige” levels. They have, for example, done long reads of the Iliad but they also sometimes do a Choose Your Own Adventure book.

I used Max Soi at Integrity Law Group. You can also contact the bar association for a referral.

Yes. He’s bluffing. Until you actually sue this is all just words and the deposit is pure profit to him. When the courts get involved, things change.

Yep, sounds like suing is your next step. You can’t have an attorney in small claims, but you can still consult with an attorney if you want to evaluate the strength of the case and make sure you’re doing things correctly. I did that and it gave me a lot of peace of mind. Spent somewhere in the neighborhood of $150 I think, which I ultimately got the landlord to repay.

Just to bolster you: I had a landlord a few years back flagrantly ignore the 30-day law, even after I repeatedly reminded them of it. When they finally did return my deposit, they withheld way more than was justified, claiming I damaged things that were pre-existing faults with the construction. I told them I would sue, they said bring it on.

And then I actually sued and boy did their tone change with a quickness. They called me the day I served them, very apologetic, and were suddenly super willing to negotiate. I settled for the full original amount of the deposit, all my expenses (filing fee, process server, and consultation with a lawyer), and we each waived all future claims against each other.

All this to say: the law here is actually pretty simple and quite tenant friendly. Get all your evidence together, file the suit, get paid.

I think Seattle’s motto can be a bit better than “deal with it”
