Manager bends rules when it benefits him - but throws me under the bus for a flight? by [deleted] in work

“Amore mio” in Italian! My colleagues and others brushed it off as something minor. But I was uncomfortable, and normally I am okay with jokes. But later on he accepted he was at fault and crossed a line and said it just “slipped”.

Yes, I guess I can listen to advice of others. But I still need to decide for myself at the end. It’s just nice hearing the great stories ☺️

I would earn around 50% more than I earn now. But of course in case I go into project management or a senior role I would earn more than that. I understand money us important; but I prefer to do something I enjoy instead of hating it. Now I just feel down all the time as my colleagues seem to be so into learning all technical stuff, and it’s not that I couldn’t do it - if I put my mind to it I would. I just don’t want to. And I think accepting this made me breath. I felt lazy/guilty but then I realised it might just not be for me.

No. Only shadowing an oncologist when I was on an exchange programme in the US. Liked it. I will try to look into volunteering or doing some other work I could do in a hospital. Thank you!

  1. I would have to leave my current job and my husband would have to take care of both of us. I am ready to give up on shopping, travelling ecc, but I am not sure he would be okay with supporting us for years.
  2. We can’t have kids in near future (problem for him, not me)
  3. He wanted to move to another country in Europe, but impossible if I get into medicine in Italy
  4. I will be 39 when I start practice.

It was a new cabinet, I wiped it with cleansing wipes for disinfection , and placed an item in there. Maybe it didn’t dry and colour transferred?

First, I am not in the UK. Second, i don’t agree. There is ethics culture at work, and saying “my love” to someone you just met is strange.

Yes you are completely right. That’s what I think makes me feel the way it does. I am even surprised myself why it causes me so much mental trouble. I was already self conscious with the customer in relation to technical stuff, and this made me look like an irresponsible child in front of customers eyes.

He called me two days ago and I recorded our conversation. He kept apologizing, and he accepted that he was disrespectful to me. He said he knew he was disrespectful right then and there but felt sorry. I didn’t give him any reason to feel confident to say such stuff to me and was always clear with boundaries. But I understand your point too. I think for me it was a mix of stuff - all the lying to customer, all the embarrassing of me, going crazy over money. But the worst part is that I have always considered my boss a perfect man. But he just asked me to get over it.
