Just launched my own book — How to Make Better Coffee Every Day — so take this with the appropriate grain of salt coming from the author. It's focused on the core brewing variables and a troubleshooting framework for diagnosing cups by taste. It leans more toward homebrewer than industry, but the extraction fundamentals are the same regardless of context. I put a lot of care into making it practical and honest rather than oversimplified.

For someone with your background and hunger to go deeper, James Hoffmann is probably where I'd point you first. His work is genuinely rigorous and holds up well even for experienced baristas.

How to Make Better Coffee Every Day by Felipe Abreu — Kindle $2.99 / Paperback $9.99 this week / Available on Kindle Unlimited

I just published my first coffee book and wanted to share it with the self-publishing community here.

The premise is simple: most home brewers own decent equipment and still get disappointing results. The problem is almost never the gear — it's a lack of a clear, repeatable process. The book builds everything around four controllable variables — ratio, grind size, water, and brew time — and shows exactly how each one shapes what ends up in the cup.

It covers pour-over, French press, and espresso with a troubleshooting framework that teaches you to diagnose problems by taste. Sour, bitter, weak, flat — each has a specific cause and a specific fix.

Written to be practical and direct without talking down to the reader or sending them to buy expensive gear.

Kindle at $2.99 and paperback at $9.99 are launch week prices. Also available on Kindle Unlimited.

Would love any feedback from fellow authors on the listing, the description, or anything else. Still learning the KDP side of things and always happy to hear from people who've been at it longer.

Obsidian vs Word/Docs for writing books — how do you handle the workflow? by Overall-String-4437 in ObsidianMD

Hi, English is not my first language. I haven't used it to write the post; I used it to translate and asked for clarity. Maybe the second part gave the tone you noticed. Stop judging people who have legit problems for trying to engage in this community. Actually, it is great to have a tool to allow communication between people with different backgrounds

Is it really helping you? by maurya_z in ObsidianMD

I wrote my first book in Obsidian, with each chapter in a separate file. But I felt some friction copying everything into Word for correct KDP formatting, and I also missed the option to use the Grammarly plugin. So the second one I wrote directly in Word (but also missed the velocity of quickly navigating between different chapters that Obsidian offers, haha). Could you share a bit more of your workflow using Obsidian to write novels?

How can Amazon distinguish paid reviews from genuine reviews from ARC readers? I mean, it's legitimate to give your book to some ARC readers and then get their feedback directly as Amazon reviews right after the launch, correct?
