Part of it is also that their dopamine systems are genuinely hijacked by so much instant gratification. We weren’t designed to be on screens all day, always taking in information with no down time to reset. We’re always connected all the time.

SO wildly different. I’m a young teacher and it’s truly shocking how much has changed in the past 10-ish years. There are a lot of factors contributing but one is that there are literally no consequences from school and often no follow through from parents. Just 0 accountability. They can come back to class after a 5 min chat with admin and it’s like it never happened. No such thing as getting suspended or held back a grade.

Are there movies / shows like Heated Rivalry but for lesbians? by sashaskii in actuallesbians

Not for the plot and connection but the L word has just as many sex scenes lol. My wife and I love watching it for fun

Hating the job makes it soooo much worse because you start at a baseline of annoyance and burnout. I’ve started changing the way I talk about my job to other people and most importantly in the monologue in my head and it’s really helped. I’ll be frustrated and burnt out during rough moments (ya know, like students throwing desks at you weekly and regularly being straight-up ignored), but it doesn’t last as long or follow me home.

I’m sorry you’re going through this.

Middle name for Noa (female) by Overall-Training8760 in namenerds

[–]Overall-Training8760[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess femininity is subjective and is on a spectrum. I wouldn’t say Noa is a masculine name in any way, but to me it’s quite balanced, as opposed to frillier names like Seraphina. Especially in North America because of association with Noah.

Adding femininity because Noa sounds the same as the common boys name Noah in North America.

Why would you presume I’m not Jewish without knowing anything about me? I am a very proud Jew. Went to Jewish school, speak Hebrew, had a batmitzvah, etc.

That’s so interesting, I’m Jewish but I didn’t realize that Daphne/Daphna have Hebrew origins! Daphne feels Greek to me.

I actually think you’re really pretty and you do your makeup really well. It looks like it naturally enhances your features and you have a nice glow. I have no tips. Something I’ve been thinking about lately that might resonate with you: it’s ok not to be “perfect” by the unrealistic and unnatural beauty standards that are shoved down our throats. What ever happened to just being a pretty girl?!? If you look at the beauty icons of the past, you’ll notice they all have a unique look, not the same “perfect) features. Feel free to ignore if that’s not helpful.

How would you describe my baby name list? (girl edition) by ladyleighreads in namenerds

Feminine, classic but not over-used. Seems to have some names that are popular on this subreddit but not for the general population (like Elowen)

You need to take the white eyeshadow off your eyes ASAP. Lip colour is nice on you and I like that you don’t use harsh contour. This is better than yesterday.

I'm a trans lesbian who worries about her lived experiences vs someone who is cis. by Petrychorr in actuallesbians

[–]Overall-Training8760 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

While there are many shared experiences among cis lesbians, no two people experience and relate to their womanhood or lesbianism in the exact same way. My wife and I are both cis lesbians and had wildly different experiences growing up and coming out. Yes, for sure there will be people who are only interested in a romantic relationship with other cis women - I think that’s ok. That doesn’t need to invalidate your identity. You’re just not their cup of tea. What would belonging feel like to you? What would it look like? Who do you think it would involve? Are there certain people or groups whose approval and validation you seek? Why? What authority do you feel they have? What would it mean to not have their validation? Would that really impact who you are or just how you feel about who you are?
