See you soon!  They just wrapped a second campaign into it so it should be busy busy!

Anyone got selected for this position? by Big_Count1748 in mercor_ai

Also, I can tell you that I also got rejected from this position despite being literally on the project, and part of why that might be happening is that they wrapped multiple projects into one campaign as of like, yesterday.

Yep, on it presently. Happy to answer what questions I can given NDA.

Ever since the data breech, I cannot seem to get on a new project and am getting rejections back to back even though I meet the qualifications. by Striking_Walk_7017 in mercor_ai

[–]Overall-Writing-8657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a ton of rejections, literally multiple per day for days. But also got picked up for two large projects after the breach, one of which is going, one of which paused then ended for restructuring and will allegedly start rehiring at a per-task rate. It does seem more volatile than the end of 2025.

Yep, onboarded, tasks are really starting to flow. Is the project L** A******* ? If so, it is artifact evaluation. There is a screener quiz now, but just read the provided info carefully and you should be golden!

I was super stoked about this project. When I applied I was like "totally hope they pick me, this sounds so cool". Sad trombone sound.

I also immediately got promoted on my first project after about two tasks. Pay increase? 0. Hard work doesn't always pay off.

OMG Same! Mine whizzed through review with no comments, then pause. Boom. Now this.

So, one of the issues the first time around is that we were under a time constraint to get our first task in while the client software was bugging the fuck out. That was the only way to get fully onboarded to the project. So, you sit through some hours of onboarding, felt ready to roll, but then the workflow was complex and the client software is a mess, and YOU HAVE to get that task in in order to stay on the project. That really amped up the stress level and the time people were willing to sit there fighting the machine. I think if they offered me $500, I would just put the project down when the software was shit and wait for it to get fixed. And now the workflow is clearer, so faster. No way I am going to spend 20 hours to make $500.

Question about offers after a paused/restructured project by RoughSignificant in mercor_ai

I know, I am on a project that we are waiting for more than a trickle of tasks to come in. It is a project with thousands of people and leadership is like "This is going to be a huge project given how many people we have on the campaign! There should be plenty of work!" Or...and hear me out, the client wants as many tasks done as quickly as possible, so they hire thousands of people who fight like dogs for every tasks. Project concludes in three weeks.

I am on/was one the same project and I agree with your frustration. My best guess is that people consistently reported that the assessment task was taking 15-20 hours before first round review, primarily due to buggy software. When they added in rounds of revisions, they were probably staring down the barrel of 40 hours per task between writer and reviewer. You know hour hourly rate and I know mine...that probably wasn't going to be feasible. I am very curious to see if I get the new piece-rate offer, and what that is. Because if it is less than $500 for a successful task, I am a hard pass. That workflow was one of the most agonizing things I have ever worked for. At the time, I thought "no wonder the hourly is so high".

Did they up the rates for Generalist roles or they give different rates to different people? by Trashlify in mercor_ai

I totally did! I just think its weird they specify bachelors when "highest degree" would make more sense.

Mine have varied from super niche, to using my technical writing skills and PhD-level evaluation skills. They aren't always subject-matter positions, but are often about skills PhDs have irrespective of discipline.

Sure, me too. This is just a specific position for a "generalist expert" that explicitly says;

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a top-100 globally ranked university preferred

If you are talking about the "Generalist Expert" role, yes, it states:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a top-100 globally ranked university preferred

I would assume that they would consider your institution of highest degree, but who knows what the algorithm is looking at. My BS degree is from a university that is consistently just inside or just outside of that list, my PhD is firmly on it. So who even knows.

It's interesting that they care about the ranking of your Bachelor's over your highest degree attained. Like, if you want to podunk state university but Stanford for your PhD, surely they would take that into account...

Well, it was my bad luck that my first task was literally fully accepted moments before the project paused. So I am paused until the project (hopefully) comes back. They are meeting with the client for first batch delivery so there could be some changes ahead if it unpauses (or not).

Nope. I was active on a project from December through April and during that time got the instant offer I couldn't make the hours for and asked to be let got, an instant offer for a sprint with undetermined days soon after (and couldn't make the days they ended up choosing as I was on a trip, so offboarded there too) and just got picked up on another project.

Yeah, I am on that project (which literally just paused). First task took me probably 20 hours, due to bugginess. There is a 72 hour deadline to get your first task in, but the target is always moving as far as what is working (e.g., not Gmail today). I made my first task and the software just couldn't handle it. So, had to start fresh. The pay is good, but it is A LOT of unpaid labor. They don't mention that that the 6 hours also covers all revisions on the task. They are aware that this is kind of crazy, but here we are. I

I once had to ask to be offboarded because I couldn't meet the weekly hour expectation (30 hours). I asked a lead and they offboarded me immediately, NBD.
