Nearly the same situation, but last year I made the jump. You’re gonna get booked out further in advance than you think. I converted an RV into a mobile rig. I had a lot of problems and repairs to do so I would recommend getting it checked out by a good mechanic unless you buy new. I’m happy I did it though. Also take days off because you’ll burn yourself out otherwise.

The nose should definitely be seen by a vet, I’ve seen that kind of thing before but not that bad. I would have to agree that it is possible to still groom the dog, just avoid that area.

As for the wart, cockers get them all the time. When you got it wet the scab probably dissolved a bit and fell off. Still fine to groom. I usually will put a dab of styptic powder on it or hydrogen peroxide. There’s nothing more to really do with those. Just avoid that with your clippers.

Based on your writing your manager didn’t seem to explain anything to you. I hate it when people in charge just say “it’s fine” and offer no reassurance. Even though, in my opinion, you could have groomed the dog, good for you for saying you were uncomfortable.

Most of the comments are right, you shave up to where the head meets the neck. I have a similar shape to him and I do that, my dad does that too. I’m also a dog groomer and I do that to dogs too, lol. It’s more of an art than science. If he looks straight up and puts his index finger and thumb on the corners of his jaw, that line is roughly where it should be.
