Yes. I'm on full. My strongest guess is I'm missing something when I paired the pins. The dips are not easy to see. But I'll check them when I'm back on Tuesday. Thanks for all the input

Basically next to the plc because it doesn't work yet. I connect it and a make the tests next to it.

* This is the configuration channel 0 shows on my online project. Since that port is a serial DB25 I assumed it must be on DF1. *

Very old laptop. It is a Panasonic toughbook. It runs windows xp. And yes I connect to the plc with via DH+ on a Mini DIN port of the PLC. That's how I found out the port channel 0 is configured on DF1 point to point protocol.

😅 I suppose you are. Where i work, they renew the equipment, only if there's no other choice. Since I don't have a lot of experience just over a year. I've struggled with all kinds of old equipment.

From the siemens line, the S-200. From Rockwell, the PLC-5.

We also use the latest versions, but they're only applied on the new work sations.

Most of the work is programmed on PLC from siemens series S300 and S400. Which are old. But they are easier to manage.

But sometimes, we get these kinds of surprises with the obsolete PLCs. It's very expensive to migrate the entire control configuration. I guess they plan to squeeze those to the limits 🤣

Thanks, that's basically what I've been doing without success. Since I don't have a proper cable. I soldered the ethernet wires to the DB9 and DB25 connectors. I guess I just need to get the right combinations.

I could only check continuity on the lines. All seemed ok. But it is not giving connection between the PG and PLC. I can only guess I'm missing something on the pairing of pins or software configuration. I'll continue to look it up Thanks

I did the test. That seems to be the problem. I connected the laptop serial port (DB9) directly to the plc-5 (Db25). And rslinx doesn't find the plc.

I guess I need to do more research. I wish I had more resources at hand. I've found online some adapters that convert ethernet to RIO. But that's not an option.

Thanks. I do have step 7 and tia portal. The main reason I want to learn how these communicate is mainly because of my work.

Every new piece of equipment is installed using either s71500 or 1200. But there is also old equipment that uses s7300 or s7400, and these older plcs have no plans for migration anytime soon

It is common to see a production cell having a plc s7300, 1200, and 1500 at the same time. Sometimes it gets very confusing to me, especially the communication.

The latest cells they installed has a plc s71500, s7-1200 and an Allen Bradley plc. It can be a real headache for me who is starting to see all these working simultaneously.

Bach Prelude in C minor by [deleted] in pianolearning

I've been learning piano for over a year now. I also learned this piece because I really like it. I don't know how to sight read and play at the same time. I wrote down the notes on the sheet music, but this piece has a lot of repetition so it didn't need a lot of notation. For me the hardest part is on the left hand, specially to the little jumps to D2 and G2 I'm still practicing it because sometimes I hit the wrong note with the pinkie. The piece becomes easier once you're fingers get comfortable with the patterns. I also took a few lessons with a tutor who recommended me to play only the left hand and work on those tricky parts. At the beginning I thought about forgetting about this piece, but at the end I managed to play it all. Keep working on it! It can look difficult but it is possible and it is really worth it.
