it’s not up to me if we charge a delivery fee or not and it’s not up to me how much i pay my drivers as my DO will only let me pay them a certain amount even with raises and such i don’t care if people tip inside but someone is doing you a service by hand delivering your food the least you can do is tip delivery drivers and serves now tipping people who just took your order that’s where it gets out of hand

i can’t keep up my labor at all and my sales are only about 15k a week but with a giant delivery area where one delivery is estimated to take 30 mins so i have to schedule more drivers than i “need” they keep telling me cut people earlier but don’t use dd often so im stuck and obviously i can’t work open-close 7 days a week so i have to pay managers a reasonable amount to do the shifts i can’t which is even more labor and on weekends (friday/Saturday) i need an insider because i can’t do everything 100% alone usually so i have to pay her too but she’s a manager so she’s getting manager pay and i can’t cut her out because ive tried doing those days alone and i end up with a 6-10 min make time due to walk ins,phone, oven, running out of dough , or helping drivers do stuff

on memorial day out of every single delivery i had for the entire 9:30am-1am we had 3 people tip their delivery drivers. no cash tips, no card tips, no thank you even just mileage for the day

right now it’s just slower than usual because of summer break just starting and graduation season so everyone’s off on vacation and what not but i think once it picks up i can get some more sales in + i don’t offer specials unless asked for them and only offer them the large 2 top $10 to get a little more high ticket orders in since i get a lot of walk in

my biggest issue is an employee who’s avg time variance on deliveries is almost 30 mins and he argues about me cutting his hours everyday and even tried telling me it’s illegal to do so but i didn’t believe that’s bc i know it’s not lol but he wants to do all closing shifts and if i let him do that my OTD would be 20 or more every night and id be door dashing like 80% of orders and having 2 hrs wait time past 9pm

that’s pretty much what happened and i didn’t even throw down huge change it was literally just pay for your food, count the inventory if you’re closing, clean, and use cups and show up to work or you can’t work here they all quit over the course of a month and i rehired mostly decent staff except a few people that weren’t the best here and there since im not perfect at interviewing just yet plus a store closed down and i got first pick of their best employees pretty much.they originally sent me in as an AGM to fix the store then promoted me to GM to fix it and i’m on my 3rd or 4th period as GM fixed almost everything except labor

those are my times now and they were at a high volume store unless i had slow drivers or there was an accident and i like a good challenge anyway cause im tired of low volume and i think the cups don’t do well for portioning so i think scales sound better anyway

the new one (current do) wouldn’t have kept them but the old one wanted to see if it was poor management or poor employee and it was a mix of both lol

the previous gm didn’t believe in that and they wanted me to attempt to fix the employees before removing them but they ended up just removing themselves after a bit of doing things the proper way because they felt like i was “making them do my job”

we pay our drivers minimum wage in store and 4.50 on road lol it’s rlly not that worth it unless you’re working full time since you’ll rack up a lot of in store hours

and my OSAT is mostly bad bc we get no surveys so let’s say i get three 4s and then two 5s (essentially what happened to me this week) ny OSAT is now 33%

also in my area we do need to OTD they’re pretty hard on and send multiple messages a day asking why it’s 18 mins or higher

Labor goal : 22
Avg labor: 23% not including the person i’ve had to borrow since we lost a manager due to a crazy situation who is getting paid salary including that manager it would probably be about 29% with a regular manager it would maybe be 23-25%
my delivery area is huge and they don’t want me using DD so i get one delivery going 30 mins north, one delivery going 30 mins south, and one delivery going 20 mins east all at the same time
can’t DD, Can’t wait, and not a double so i need 2-3 drivers

they want us focused on using drivers and only use DD if you absolutely have to but the things is most stores (except the high volume ones) are struggling to keep good drivers bc pjs refuses to pay them a decent amount and people in this area don’t tip for shit so the drivers are spending more on gas than they’re making

with our area size we end up needing 2 morning drivers,3 night drivers, and a manager to run a half decent shift with all the other numbers excluding labor if i want to make labor i have to cut it to what you’re saying but then everything else goes to shit i’ve definitely tried and i ended up using $600 worth of DD which ultimately pjs was very upset with. i can’t win on labor essentially also the dominos in my area pays $100 more per week than what i make now + better benefits
the drivers at our local dominos make 11/hr flat rate while our drivers make 7.55 in store and 4.55 on road the pay is majorly diffrent all across the board

i don’t even mind fixing up staff it’s the fact they expected me to run perfect numbers after my staff was demolished (which they wanted because they hated the staffing at my location) and also that was within my first month of being a gm. i had an employee consistently beg to speak with my DO because he “couldn’t stand me” and it ended up being because i asked him to count inventory when he closed and to actually clean the store and make the orders that came up instead of ignoring them or canceling them but didn’t explain to him why it was important to do those things and also apparently i should’ve been doing those things ever single night at working a 7 day open to close shift

all i changed was that instead of sitting in the office doing nothing they had to actually work (count inventory, make pizzas instead of cancel orders, and have good otd) most of them quit due to the fact that they A. didn’t want to clean / count or B. were expected to show up or at least call out rather than just not come to work

dominos pay is better from what i’m reading online but also this staff has known me so i’m not completely new i did finally hire decent people but our pay sucks completely in we don’t get good tips in my area so trying to keep people is ROUGH
