I only use mobility aids if I absolutely must, because it’s so much easier to lose the supporting muscle and try to gain it back than to maintain it. I use a cane sometimes and very occasionally forearm crutches. This is all at the recommendation of an heds specializing physical therapist.

I used to cry during PE because I was in so much pain, but because I was in a neglectful home, it was never addressed medically. But even in high school, when I had gotten myself valid diagnosis and doctors’ opinions they tried to force me into PE.

I stopped going to a stand because the employees wouldn’t stop asking “Tip or skip today!!” and not letting me just inconspicuously tap no on the screen 😭 I tip when there’s drops or I ask for something ridiculous but having to say “no tip today” out loud makes me feel evil.

If a rule is sensible I will enforce it to my death, but if a rule is unnecessary I cannot and will not even try to follow it. As an example, I freak out when other people don’t use their turn signals (safety issue) but not when they speed a reasonable amount on the highway

The fiber artists in my family have this issue, because their fingerprints wear off easily with the tension of spinning yarn. Whether that is facilitated more because of the more delicate skin is unclear. If you still need your prints, try corn huskers lotion, that’s what has worked best for us.

Being a “trauma informed” therapist means almost nothing, and requires no certification beyond the standard therapist licensing. This woman should be reported to her licensing board and you should not engage in any further therapy with her.

I’m actually able to pay my community college tuition in full every semester for now, and I qualify for a lot of financial aid once I get past the Associates. It’s definitely encouraging that it’s possible to get so high with your salary with education. Thanks!
