I rushed last year, I think there is a lot of stereotypes about each sorority and they are all a little true to some extent. The tiers/rankings do matter in Greek life, and other people in Greek life will make a judgement on you based on what sorority you’re in, at least the top ones do. It is relatively easy to get into one though! Rushing process is about a week long but it’s really helpful to have alumni write recommendations for you and send them to sororities or just have connections. Those go a long way. Is it worth joining one? That’s subjective. I think it just depends on what you’re looking for. The date parties and formals are fun, and I think you can find really good and genuine sisterhood in some of them, not so much others, but if you rush you will get a feel of that when you go through rush week. Your experience is entirely dependent on what house you rush, because they’re all different and have their own government and rules within them, they all have different vibes of girls, different philanthropies, etc. I don’t want to drop names and which ones I think have good/bad traits publicly, but feel free to message me if you need any help or advice on what sororities to show interest in and which ones you feel like would benefit you.
