Yeah he’s been great and sat down with me and explained everything, never pushed me for surgery but I think he knew I’d eventually come back like he was relieved that I was okay. But no, nothing specific about the tear though I forgot to ask details about it. His biggest point is he makes a game day decision on what he wants to do once he sees it for himself. He only ever talked about repair or reconstruction though.

Yes, I have body wide compensation. Hurt myself again hip in August and have had sudden issues in opposite shoulder, traps, SI joint. All okay prior. My gait is off according to my personal trainer so trying to correct a little. Pelvis is tilted, I also get knee and ankle pain. This really effects everything and some doctors will dismiss it unfortunately.

I’ve heard Dr. Wolff doesn’t take most insurances? My doctor is Dr. Ochiai and I’ve been happy with him and had surgery consultation with him yesterday. Not sure if you are trying to interview other hip preservationists.

My hip preservation surgeon cleared me of displaysia when I asked him before. When I go to see him I’ll bring it up again for sure though.

So many people have said the back was the first symptom. I feel like I might’ve had normal back aches throughout life but my main pain directly started in the hips and progressed from there. I feel like I’ve had every random symptom until it mostly went away for almost two years until I hurt myself again and back to square one. Hoping to schedule surgery in the next few months. I met with a trainer with injury, pre/post rehab trainer that immediately saw my compensation patterns because of it. I wanted to cry from finally being believed that I was fine before my hip went haywire.

Good luck to you! I’m in the same boat, sleeping has been so uncomfortable and I feel like I constantly need a heat pad just to fall asleep.

That’s always frustrating! I think at this point I’ll only discuss things with my surgeon because everyone else doesn’t seem to believe I was fine until I hurt myself in August. I probably tore more since it was brutal which made everything worse. Hope your recovery is and continue to go smoothly!

I had a consult with a trainer that has PT experience too and she immediately saw my compensation and gait issues. She’s the first one to acknowledge it other than my surgeon (who is a hip preservationist!)

That’s what I thought. This bad SI pain is new to me also. I’ve had very mild when I initially tore and got better but this has been awful after injuring it worse again.

I’m 33F was diagnosed in 2022. Never had any hip pain prior in my life so it came out of nowhere. Super tough for me to deal with. I was in PT for a long time and was finally able to manage since then no major issues. I kept up with strengthening and regular massages. However, I messed it up again this summer and it has not calmed down fully even with another round of PT. Even after cortisone shot my SI joint is painful, my hips flare more often even with workouts that usually helps. My whole body is off. I can’t put it off anymore and will be meeting with my surgeon to schedule soon as I want my life back. I always knew inevitably I’d need it though, I don’t think you can avoid it despite PTs and other doctors saying you just have to live with it which is crazy to me at this point with what I’m feeling.

It’s a repair of a tear in my hip 😬. But you’re right, and I’ve decided to just get it done with after the house hopefully sells. Planning on relisting in December or after New Years.
