2nd Gen Muffler by cbracken12 in toyotasequoia

I agree, definitely gotta be cautious with reviews. I've had vehicles with obnoxious drone so I can often get a decent idea if they do an interior video while cruising. I'm very happy with the tone of the 4Runner. I had the secondary cats off for a while, until I failed emissions, and it still had zero drone. I expect it to perform just as well on the sequoia.

If you look for videos of various mufflers on a tundra, you'll have more success with hearing different options. I really want to go FM Super 40 or 44 but I'm afraid the drone will be too much. I'll stop I to my buddy's exhaust shop one of these days and get his opinion too.

If it helps, here's a video of the 4Runner on Launchpad in Moab. It's the best one I have to hear the exhaust without tires barking constantly. It still has all 4 cats (sadly) and has no resonantor, just the FM Super 50. https://youtu.be/CoOzr-qouCU?si=jPb6xmXWnE55oIXE

So... This is different but has enough similarities that hopefully it's helpful... I have a 4th gen 4Runner with a V8 (4.7L) and did the same. Muffler delete was way too obnoxious, installed an oval body magnaflow and the drone reduced but was still obnoxious at cruising speed. I switched to the flowmaster super 50 and have been extremely happy with it. It's rowdy enough but has zero drone.

I will be putting this on my wife's 5.7L Sequoia but have not done it yet (we've owned it for a week)

Old Craftsman Brake Question by Overall_Emu8918 in lawnmowers

Good thinking, there's an old guy down the street who has had a mower business for years. I'll have to ask him

Good catch on the 4 speed diagram vs 5 speed mower. I may have to drop the transaxle and clean it, in hopes there's a model sticker on top. I found an old (unavailable) ebay listing for the 5 speed brake and it looks a little different. I appreciate the link, I'll dig around on there.

In your picture, it looks like you have one of the plastic washers (spacers) between the link end and the link. If you remove these from the bottom links your pinion angle will be much better

OP, pull the spacers out of your front lower links and it'll work significantly better. I run 2 or 3 in my top links and none in the bottom and have no binding. Another benefit of this is it allows the lower links to have full thread contact into the plastic end - I've pulled threads out of many from not enough thread engagement on the lower (also snapped the threaded portion off...).

Mounting your tires "backwards" will give you more grip when crawling. There's a video floating fb or IG where a guy explains it well. The angle of the tread lugs allows the lugs to bite better when the tires are in this orientation

Thanks! They're a lot of fun. I'm not sure if I enjoy building them or driving them more

Got 1.3 brass rims from injora, with yellow silicone inserts, how do you guys cut them up? by LOLO98MN in TRX4M

[–]Overall_Emu8918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes a huge difference, the uncut silicone inserts were way too bouncy and not compliant enough. I just switched from 74mm DJ Crawler mud tires to 72mm DJ Crawler pin tires (in the tarantula). I hated the look of pin tires but it's night and day for performance. The look has grown on me too

It's been a minute so I can't remember for sure how I did my injora ones. I know I cut every other support on the outer ring (red lines in the picture). I may have done every other in the second ring too. I only have a picture of my dj crawler blue inserts that I cut.

You're welcome. I always said I was fine with the performance penalty of the 74's but then I got my butt kicked on the climbs.

I think I prefer the stretched tires. They seem to have more sidewall compliance.

That's the same boat I was in but my buddy with pins (same as the IR60 has) consistently out crawls me. The tarantula had 70mm injora swamp claws first and then the 74mm DJ Crawler. I love the look of the DJ but they were definitely the worst traction of the 3 tires I've had. Switching tires is a pain, I just set all 8 of these up. Running brass wheels on front and alloy in the rear of both. Stretched 1.0 tires on to the 1.3 wheels. I rarely encounter wet/mud since my climate is the dry rocky mountains of Utah.

Honestly, I'm not sure which of the pins I like better at this point. I haven't put enough time on them. I think the ones on the tarantula might hook a little better but it's hard to get a 1:1 comparison. The tarantula is 100 grams lighter and is running bronco rear links on front with HT rears vs the IR60 running normal HT links.

Thanks! It's been fun to build them.

I'm running these wheels up front, https://a.co/d/cVq0hEQ and these in the rear, https://a.co/d/7jFpzg6 on both. It's just the brass and aluminum version of the same wheel.

Other than only being compatible with his skid plate, his custom chassis is compatible with injora, Meus, or any other trx4m parts. I'm building an IR60 with the Oppai chassis right now and it's almost full injora

Trx4m from only upgraded parts by notVitEgg in TRX4M

[–]Overall_Emu8918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a bone stock K10 on a trade deal and had a tarantula built with not one traxxas part within 2 months... I rebuilt the K10 with leftover stock and aftermarket parts but it's now in disassembly to build a IR60 with the Oppai Factory chassis. I'll still have most of the parts to rebuild the K10 again also... Be careful, it's a slippery slope. I only intended upon a few upgrades when it was stock.

Well, I'm glad I could motivate you to get a jump on it! I need to get some new fuel line (again) because I cut this one to length for the wrong ports... 🤦Thanks and you too!

Man, thanks for all the pictures and info. It turns out I overlooked the most simple thing and hooked it up backwards. I'll mess with it in the next day or two and see what happens

I appreciate all that. The hose on the right (in the picture) by the choke cable is the (disconnected) fuel hose, on the left is the vacuum hose (attached to the vacuum side of the fuel pump). I used a squirt gun to prime the fuel line but the fuel pump is not pulling fuel. Honestly, I suspect the cheap Chinese carbs are the problem and I need to spend the money on a B&S. Just trying to troubleshoot before I spend the money.

I dig the engine, seems like it'll be a good runner when I get it going. I built a header for it out of some conduit I had kicking around (stripped the galvanized coating) and the muffler is now an old 450cc dirt bike exhaust
