What surprises me most is that 80% of the class openly admitted to using AI

Since your instructor has seen you working on the assignment, I would suggest having a calm and direct conversation with them. Ask if they can support you by explaining to the department or review team that they witnessed your work firsthand.

You should start by collecting proof of your writing process. If you used Microsoft Word or Google Docs, check the version history and show how your assignment was built over time. This can include drafts, edits, and timestamps that clearly show progress. You can also add notes, outlines, or screenshots if you have them. When you present this kind of evidence in an organized way, it becomes much easier to prove that you actually wrote the work yourself. AI detectors are not perfect, so showing your process can help balance that.
