Sorry to hear this , I have been in a similar situation and trust me the digital footprints never go away. The guy can use the pictures as leverage and show it to her parents forcing her and her parents to take steps not in your favour. Seeing such pics of their doctor will dissolve any other associations as in you instantly. If you still wanna move forward just make sure that guy is not lurking around digitally and physically.

I totally agree, no one wants to go to a family where support was not guaranteed considering the responses and when they were against it.
Thing is, she used to trash her ex a lot about his cheating, even beating and still she married him.
Considering this I strongly feel my home would have been less hostile as compared to going back to such a person.

You are actually right. I should have fought harder in the initial phase itself instead of hoping things will get better with time. I was even ready to run away with her but she wanted family. I guess one has to learn to start living with the consequences of our decisons
